Bad copies Hello, I have an old xerox 5309 copier, which I inherited.  I.m experiencing two problems with it. First, when I press to copy the paper jams and I a "P" message comes in the screen. I press the copy button again and it works. It does so intermittently. the second problem is the copies come out two dark even at the lowest setting . Please advise.

Re: bad copies

This seems an easy one the first problem you are getting is that the paper pickup rollers are worn or just dirty easy way to clean them is to place one piece of paper in the tray and at the leading edge spay on some cleaning fluid about a inch wide. Then press the copy button and the machine will jam. Open the door and repeat a few more times. Once finished remove sheet of paper from tray and wipe dry.

The other problem is merely down to dust on the copy mirrors. Remove the top glass normally two screws on the right hand side of the copy glass. Once removed glass place in safe place. In the machine use a cloth on the mirrors you can use windowlene or some other kind of glass cleaner. (DO NOT REMOVE MIRRORS) clean all then clean glass and replace the copy should be clean. (NOTE!!!!! There should be about six mirrors so make sure you clean them all)

Oh and be careful machine should be off when doing above.

Hope this helps

You should first have a check over the roller . Mostly the problem will be the roller only .

But let me know how old is your copier ?

Depending on it we can solve your problem .

Copies of xerox copier model 5201 almost black

USUALLY Black copies are a Drum grounding problem. I have not seen "black" copies due to old, bad, or otherwise inferior toner... Although, It is a Xerox, LOL

Hello, I have a problem with my copier (xerox dc 432st).

On this machine, the image is transferred by a black roller on the side door.
Check to see if this roller is in place correctly. If it is too old you may have this problem, and needs to be replaced.
If you can run a copy pull the door when it makes the copy half way on the drum, then pull out the drum and see if there is any image on it. This will show you the xerographic part of the copier is ok.
Pull out the cartridge and check for the grounding contacts make sure they are in place correctly.
When the door is closed there is a black plunger on the inboard end that pushes in. Make sure it is pushing in all the way and not stuck.
Check inside the view of the exposure box just above the copy cartridge, make sure there is no paper in there blocking the view of the image to the drum.

When you close the side door make sure the door is fully closed on both inboard and outboard side.
Other than this, call Xerox for a repair.

Black stripe on copies

Please be more specific.

Are the lines appearing in the direction the paper exits the machine, or from the front of the paper to the rear?
