hello i have a Envision LCD monitor that my sister gave me but when i hook it up and turn it on , it stays on for a few sec then goes off. can u tell me what might be wrong with it or if its worth fixing

- The monitor stays on for 6 min then cuts out.A flick of the power switch and it tries to start,but flashes a screen and fails.Noticed a small hiss when trying to re start.After leaving it for a minuet it starts ok then again fails.Checked circets with multimeater seem ok.Hissing comming from inverter area. stummped.- remmrickSolution #1

Most likely the 2 470uF capactitors in the power supply have leaked and partially shorted. If you have those replaced it should power up fine. The symptoms will be the green power light will come on and the backlight tubes will light up for about 1 sec then the entire monitor will shut off.
