Question about Tomtom ONE GPS Receiver
I just purchased a new TOMTOM XLS GPS receiver, 4.3" screen, and it works fine but won't speak the street names. The number one reason I bought it is because the box said "speaks street names". I'm very disappointed.
I had the same problem with the TomTom One. What you need to do is this:
When you select a voice preference you have to use a "computer" voice as it seems the "human" voice cannot pronounce the street names. I don't know if your model has the same choices but mine is set to "Samantha, English US"
Hope this helps

Have you made sure that the boxes that tell it to speak the street names are checked? When you select a computer voice, it usually goes to another screen that shows a number of boxes. Make sure that the box that says to speak street names aloud is checked.

Even after setting a computer voice my GPS still wouldn't speak street names. By trial and error I discovered that if you go to page 4 of change preferences and touch street name preferences and check show street name, show next street name and show current street name on map it will start speaking the name of the street.
