Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

PS3 I have my PS3 hooked up to a non-HD Sony TV using the supplied cable. I turn the unit on and I get nothing. The unit powers up, but I go no picture on the TV. The manual says nothing about what channel it is supposed to the TV is supposed to be on. Can anyone help?

Re: PS3

Make sure you've changed your TV from TV to video, and that the video that you have on your television corresponds to the one that you plugged into the back of your television. we just had the same problem with ours - any help?

Hooked up hd cable to ps3 and tv, now have no sound

Be sure to check the cables. You may need to replace them.

Try the cables with another component, if possible.

Also, try using AV cables to verify that it is not the TV and to simply troubleshoot:

To get back to default AV settings:

Press and hold the power button until the systems shuts off. (wait 2 seconds)

Press and hold the power button again until it shuts off again.

Once you have verified that AV is working, turn off console, take out AV cables.

Plug in HDMI cable and turn system back on. Switch TV input to HDMI and it will ask you if you would like to use the HDMI cables, select yes again and verify.

If you cannot get sound, again, check the cables..

If new cables do not work, then your HDMI output is going bad, not from use rather normal wear and tear of the motherboard.

To get the best non HD picture, you will need to get some 'component' cables, rather than the standard AV (red, white, yellow).

Good luck

Tv doesn't read the ps3

Make sure that it is resting on the red light (not powered on) and press and hold the power on button until you hear a beep. Then let go, this resets your video configuration to the default one.

We bought a hardly used ps3 for our son for x-mas. We have tried hooking it up but can't get it too play. The tv is not an HD tv, the older style tv, also have a cable box attached to the tv. Plugged the...

or the previous owner of the ps3 had the settings on the system on HD settings and now the Non-HD TV cannot recognize the signal. In order to change the settings you have to find someone with an HD TV and switch the output settings from HD to AVI

Origiannly had my son's PS# hooked up to our HD TV

You must reset your PS3 in order to accept the new TV configuration.

  • If the video output settings on the PLAYSTATION®3 do not match those of the cable or TV in use, there may be no picture. If the screen goes blank, turn off the system.
  • Then, with only the PLAYSTATION®3 and the TV connected, touch the system's power button for more than 5 seconds to turn the system back on. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.

    Connecting ps3 to hd tv

ok here's what you do. Hook up your ps3 to your hd via hdmi cable then turn the tv on first. Then turn the power on to your ps3 and switch tv to hdmi. wait a while then a screen should come up and you should see and screen where it says an hdmi device is connected do u want to accept theses settings say yes. sometimes the "handshake" doesn't happen properly. If u already know this or have tried this it could be that your tv needs a firmware update, happened to me.

Hooking up playstation 3 to tv

you need a ps3 scart lead. i think the one of the ps2 is the same but check. it should just hook up like a ps2. if you are having any problems with the picture hold down the power button when you start up the ps3 for 10 seconds this runs the optimal screen settings for the cable you are using. but if it is the first time you are using the ps3 it will auto start in set up mode. hope this helps
