When you connect it to the computer, are you turning it on first?
If so, is it showing as a drive under 'My Computer'? If so, go to right click> Properties> Autoplay tab.
Are you using a compatible media player to sync the device?
Have you installed the necessary drivers (available here: http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=213&CatName=MP3+Players&subCatID=214&subCatName=ZEN&prodID=15306&prodName=ZEN+V+Plus

While at the site, check the manual troubleshooting section.
