Either the belt has slipped off or broken, or the motor start/run capacitor has failed.
Place the dryer on its face, with cushioning. Take off the back panel and look around inside. You will see the drive belt which is long and thin and should wrap around the drum.
If the belt is broken, replace it. If it looks OK, find the motor start capacitor, which looks like this. A failed capacitor will have a split or bulging case, or a displaced end cap. They are widely available on eBay or from appliance parts shops. Get one the same voltage and capacitance rating, eg 240 VAC and 8 uF or whatever.
You get oneof the approximate same size or slightly smaller and install it where it is suppose to go. Most shops that are competent will have the belt on hand and if this process seems to advanced, then you are not up to the job. You might have to take the deck out of the unit to work on it. If you are asking this question that would indicate that it might be more than you can do. Some people work on their own equipment only to wreck it as they have no experience in tape deck repair. There is often times a lot more to do than to JUST change a belt.
broken belt or broken broken belt switch most likely. Open the door. Hold in the door switch and push the start button. Does the drum turn? If it does turn then the broken belt micro switch is where I would look first. If the drum don't turn of course I would replace the broken belt. The only Kenmore dryer that has a broken belt switch is the 4 wheel drive model. Here is a video which shows how to get into this dryer and replace the belt:
You don't need to open an inner case to access/replace the drive belt. When you open the outer case (4 screws), you'll see the circuit board and speaker and wires in one half of the case and the winding stuff in the other half. There should be what looks like a thin, large-diameter rubber band (a drive belt like an o-ring) that connects a small metal wheel (behind the central wheel) to a large plastic wheel on the left side. This belt fits into a groove along the outer edge of the large toothless wheel, without much tension on it. If the belt has slipped out of position, you should be able to reposition it using your fingers. If you don't see the belt, then it must have broken, in which case you should be able to replace it after removing the central wheel. (The tightly-wound spring is safely encased in plastic and should stay safe as long as you don't open some inner case.)
got it, go to Dewaltservicenet.com and download the instruction manual or look at it and on page 14 it gives a really great view of how to replace the belt. If I have helped you with your question would you please rate this response accordingly and thank you
iF THIS IS A THIN v BELT OR A ROUND BELT YOU CAN REPLACE IT WITH A
If this a thin V belt or a round belt you can replace it with long "O" ring from a good hardware store. If it is a flat or or toothed belt you are in trouble.
Real Manufactures part number for the drive belt is 341241. Roper is Manufactured by Whirlpool. If you need further assistance, feel free to stop back and visit us.
Since changing the belt is the easiest fix, we suggest you check that first. (Before attempting any repair be sure your machine is unplugged from the electrical outlet). Most Proheat models have two belts; a cogged belt that turns the brush roll, and a flat belt that turns the pump. If the pump belt is stretched or broken it needs to be replaced. The pump and belts are located in the front of the machine on the operator’s left. Turn the machine over and you’ll see a red retainer with 2 screws. Remove the retainer to gain access to the pump and belts. While you’re there check the red pump pulley, it’s where the two belts are. If that pulley is broken or loose you’ll have to replace the whole pump, the pulley is not available separate.
on your housing you will see a plastic cover adout 4 inches long remove this piece and you should see where your pump belt goes. flip your steamer over and remove the little red retainer that sits by the belt you have located. at this point you can take your brushroll out and slip the pump belt over the pump and onto your motor. then reassemble.
3 screws on back of dryer to remove the top. Top slides back about 2 inches and lifts off. Dryer drum should have a thin drive belt around it. Pull on belt. If broken you will know. If loose, then it's off pulleys. Sounds like a broken belt. Check repairclinic.com or appliancepartspros.com for dyi videos on how to replace.
