I have a Sabrent 2.5" IDE Hard Drive Enclosure --I just bought it. I put my disk into it, but when I try to use it I get "Cannot read--I/O Device Error". I am running this on a Dell Latitude D620 which is an XP system. The Sabrent shows up on my Windows Explore list as being connected, but I cannot see any files..just get I/O Error..what is wrong?

- Yes, the disk is formatted, it has data from my old laptop on it. We did load the software and we still get I/O Error. Does this mean the drive is no good?
Did you format the disk using NTFS? Have you loaded the software that came with the drive? Once the software is loaded it will take you thu the steps to set it up properly

I just recently bought my external enclosure. I began using a drive that has been good for a long time in it. After a day of usage, it began to clunk and give read/write errors. I first thought it must just be a bad drive, but after grabbing another drive off the shelf that has been thoroughly tested and proven, it also started having problems in the enclosure. Something with the external enclosure is either trashing my drives or causing read/write problems. Any ideas?
