Lid Knob The knob on the lid is some kind of plastic. It has developed several cracks. How/where can I find a replacement? It simply screws on so I can do the repair myself if I can find the part. Sharon Brantley

I have had the same problem. The knob on my slow cooker lid cracked in multiple places...then eventually just broke off. It is really difficult to use with no handle to grasp. I'd love to find a replacement knob. Can you help?

I have the same problem. I've been doing research today, and so far have found no replacements, but I have found that this model was recalled in 2005/2006, because the handles on the base can break off. It is under the GE brand name sold at Walmart. It doesn't look like the recall is still in effect, so we may be out of luck.

I have the same problem. I'm going to call the Wal-Mart Recall Hotline (888) 293-3343 in the morning. My model # is 106661 A series. The recall is for the handles on the base of the slow cookers can break, posing a risk of burns from hot food spilling onto consumers. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website advises that consumers should stop using the product immediately and contact Wal-Mart to receive a replacement slow cooker base. I'm also going to mention the broken lid knob, since it's probably made from the same materials as the handles on the base.

Just called the number (found on the web) for the Wal Mart Model 106661 of this and they are sending me a form to replace the base (with the heating element in it). Also have the same problem with the lid handle. Asked them about getting a new handle and they said I could order an entire new lid. A ceramic cabinet knob with the SS screw and washers sounds like a better solution then buying a new lid. Info date 1/21/08

Just a follow up to my above info. I called the number on the base of the cooker as I mentioned before. I inquired about the base and they told me a package was being sent to me to replace the base. During the cobversation I also asked about the know for the lid and was told I could order it. I received in the mail a brand spanking new complete lid. I called them back since I thought they sent me the lid and not the base, but ound out they are ALSO sending the a new base in a separate shipment. So call them up and check. Sounds like GE and Wal-Mart are making good for these problems. Nice to deal with folks who stand behind their products. No, I don't work for either. I just appreciate a corporation making things right when thery go wrong and am praising them in the hope others will follow their example.

The plastic handle on the lid over time has cracked and broken off. I called the 800 number on the bottom of the crockpot to inquire about a part/replacement. The rep informed me the based was under a recall and would send a self addressed mailer to return to them the electrical plug for the cooker. Upon receipt of the plug, GE/Walmart will resend a replacement base, I keep the ceramic bowl, and a new lid will be sent probably under separate cover. The experience was effortless and took less than 10 minutes on the phone. The prepaid mailer should arrive within 14 days and the replacement part from that time 14-21 days. Have your model and serial number ready for the representative.

My dad took a look at my slow cooker and then went to the store to check out a new one. You just need to pick up a cupboard or drawer knob, a stainless steel screw, and a couple of PLASTIC washers. Make sure that you get plastic washers as the other kinds will rust (per my previous experience trying to fix it).

Good Luck!

The knob on lid broke off. Can it be replaced?

Yes, visit down to Home Depot. They have a large range of metal, plastic and wooden knobs in the hardware section. Take the lid with you to check the size of the screw.

Where can I get a replacement lid hand for my Rival slow cooker model no scv655?

Rival is now Their parts page for your model shows no parts, but they list a toll-free number you can call. Try that and see if they have a different model lid or handle that will work.

When a friend's cooker lid needed a handle, I picked up a plain round wooden drawer pull at Home Depot, used a wood rasp to round the end of the knob a little to fit the curve of the lid, and put thin rubber washers from the plumbing aisle under the screw head and between the knob and lid so I wouldn't crack the glass when tightening the screw for a snug fit. Nearly two years now and it's still holding on. If you can't get an original replacement part, maybe you can roll your own.

Need plastic handle on Rival Crockpot lid.

For what it's worth, when the handle on my mother-in-law's crockpot broke, I went to Home Depot and bought a cheap wooden drawer knob (about $1 as I recall). I put a plastic washer between the knob and the glass and another under the screw head from the bottom (to prevent cracking the lid), tightened the screw and good as new.

Broken lid on crock pot 3150/2

I just found a glass lid from a 9" or 10" pot and use it, but it doesn't have the height that the plastic one has so it tends to spill a little bit if I'm not careful.

Lid Knob

Contact manufactuer for a replacement handle. You should find the toll free number (or) website in the users manual. If you no longer have the manual type in www."the manufactuer".com

Your crock pot may still be under warranty (or) they may even send you the handle free of charge, who knows

Need plastic handle on Rival Crockpot lid.

I am Jo Anne Gomez who posted original problem and thought the problem was resolved with husband putting on a knob he found at the hardware store. Just wanted to let you all know that the handle we thought would solve the problem DID NOT....after he replaced the knob and we did another roast in it the lid totally shattered after we'd cooked another roast (luckily the glass did not get into the food), however, this is just a BAD PROBLEM and these lids should ALL be recalled. I have seen, just recently, the exact same crock pot and lid being sold for much less. I think that these crock pots should not even be sold but taken off the market to prevent lawsuits or horrible problems. Just wanted to let you know our solution did not work and Rival was not helpful at all.

Replacement Knobs for the Rival Slow cooker

I HAD the problem with the handle snapping off the lid of my oval 6qt lid - until I spent 10 minutes and $2 in the cabinet hardware section of Home Depot. Now I have a stylish silver & white handle on my crock pot lid. The bolt and grommet were re-used, several little tiny o-rings were added as spacers, along with a drop of Loc-tite.
