My Palm Tungsten E will niot hot synch with my new

- My Tungsten E (it does not indicate E2)will not Hot Synch with my new computer which is operated by Vista. The program will load on the computer but no data can be stored. I get a message on my Palm stating "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again." I have tried downloading from my disk,& the internet. I've spent money with an I T tech, I've been told (this past summer)that Palm does not have a patch for Vista. My cable is good, even bought a new one & can't Hot Synch. I'm not real computer saavy & might do better with a phone call. I have created a shortcut, loaded the Palm program, unloaded the program, re-installed the program. HELP

- Hi,
Below is a better description of the problem. Should I uninstall the Palm software from my computer before going to the link you suggested? I saw some comments about doing a hard re-set of the Palm, but I can't afford to lose the data. Changing the name on the Palm won't work because a program I subscribe to on the internet won't recognize me.

Power2Go & PowerDirector ?
The icons for the shortcut to Palm still remain

- Have downloaded/installed Palm 6.2 it wants a new usernamewill I not be abled to receive updates from the internet program I subscribe to? Is there anyway I can keep my old username & still hot synch stuff already on my palm? I think not.Please answer ASAP because tI can't continue

- It made me change my name on the download. How do I change my name on the Palm device? Can I speak with you by phone? PLEASE, I'm not real good at this. I'll shut off computer & Palm, restart both & try to Hot Synch again, I receive the same message as before that "The connection between my handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please try your setup and try again." The computer shows a cable with a button, my cable does not have a button.
