Ever drain your carbs ? should be done seasonally . fuel filter problem, sounds like it is running out of gas.

Honda 2004 vtx 1300s have to run with the choke out or it dies when i down shift or stop, cleaned the carbs still doing it

Wish I could help but mine , '06 does the same thing. Turned the idle up and it helped quite a bit, but still have to leave the choke on at least 10-15 minutes. New plugs and cleaning the carb did nothing. Gonna try adjusting the A/F screw today.

I have a 2004 honda vtx 1300 and it stalls out unless i have the choke open or keep the rpms high, any ideas

Sounds like the pilot circuit in the carburetor is clogged or restricted. You will need to remove and clean your carburetor.

My 2005 Honda VTX 1300R has new battery, starts fine, accel good but idles rough sometimes to the point of stalling

Make sure the choke is pushed ALL the way in. If you've been using it, you may have fouled the plugs.
