You will need a wireless router with a built in switch. Most of them these days will have a built in switch. Here is a picture detailing what I am talking about.

You're internet connection goes into the ADSL port. Now, it will be broadcast WIRELESSLY through the antenna to your laptop. With this example, you could connect 4 more WIRED computers through the LAN ports. The built in switch is the division of the connection into the separate LAN ports.

I trust that this will help you greatly and look forward to your response!

Want to connect Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G to my computer for internet access.

I don't understand your question.

You connect to a router either wirelessly or via ethernet or via USB. There is another piece you need, you need a connection, DSL, FIOS or Cable. Do you have a modem?

If you have a moden, you connect your router to the modem by the method of your choice (Ethernete or USB or wireless). Then you connect your computer to your router via the method of your choice. I presume you have more than one cocmputer? You dont really need a router UNLESS you cannot put your computer near your router AND/OR you have multiple computers you want to network to your connection.

Sometehing else, is your computer equipped for wireless? or do you have a ethernet card called a NIC (Network Interface Card) and your operating system ... is it wireless able?

Does this help any?

A router is basically a mini-computer that splits up one internet connections to 4 (or whatever # of ports you have).

Basic Connections to a router:
A Router requires a internet connections, so your broadband modem must connect to the WAN port (theres only one) of the router DIRECTLY. Then Ethernet cables go from the router to the computers on the LAN ports. Don't do something weird like connecting your internet to your computer then your computer to the routers WAN port, it'll most likely mess up.

Once you have connected your router like this, it should work.

If your modem only has a usb port, I have no idea how to make that work out. Sorry. Try getting a new modem from your ISP, or check if your modem does have a ethernet port, if it does just connnect that to the routers wan port.

Also computers should not interconnect with each other with use of a router. Thats what the router is for. Everything gets connected and split up at the router, nothing connects to anything else but the router, basically.

Having to reboot router at least once a week

Hi, First of All I would like to inform you about the Ideal Broad band Setup. An ideal BB Setup should be in the Following Way :-
Master socket (main telephone socket) << Filter << Router << Computer.
There should not be any other things connected in between. you can connect it to the secondary or extension socket as well but it depends. sometime you may face problem with it.
As you told that you have a Hub connected to the Router If there are multiple Ethernet ports on Router there is no use of it at all but if there is only 1 port then you can connect Hub after router.
Try this and I m sure you will not face any difficulties in future.
One more Advice for you If you face any Difficulty like yesterday Internet was working fine but today its not or similar ..... Just do this ........... Switch OFF your Router. wait for 40 sec. Switch ON your Router n Wait till you get All the lights Solid Green on the Router (not Flashing apart from Ethernet Light) Try Connecting to Internet in most of the cases it Works :)
