HP Pavilion DV9009us does not boot

I've tried the suggestions on the HP web site with no luck. The power led come on, the DVD control leds come on, the DVD player green led comes on briefly, then all leds blink on/off quickly then back to steady on. No whirling sound from the hard drive though.

Sorry if I was not clear. The PC does not boot at all. I tried the suggestions on the HP web site, re-seating the DRAM and hard drive with no change. I've pressed F2, delete, F8, and F10 each with no response. The screen is blank, no HP logo. The hard drive LEd binks on once and goes out.

Fortunately the PC was still under its 1-yr warranty. HP FedEx'd an empty box for me to return the PC to their repair center.

I'll let you know if HP reports back what the problem was.

This sounds like the same issue we are having. When the power button is pressed, the control lights light up for approx 1 second, then go out. If I press the DVD button, the same thing happens. It makes no difference if the AC cord is plugged in, and I have removed the battery overnight with no change. No key combination, or function key has any effect. The screen does nothing.

I not sure what your saying, Is it the laptop thats not working ? Or DVD drive ? If Its the Pc Try and get into you Bios, Are you able to see the Hp Logo when you first turn power on, Or is Absolutely nothing Happening, No screen at all. Try and make sure, may be someone set it down a little harder than normal and may have jarred the Memory Module loose, Or even the Hard Drive it self may have become loose try to remove the Hd screw and remove and reset firmly back into place, If not, Just a little more Information may help us out, Thanks and I hope this works for you. bear001 Oh yeah If you can see the Hp logo, when you see that repeatedly push the F2 key or the Delete Key until your bios opens and try and reset back to Default Settings,

Ok try when you power up holding the ALT,CTRL,DEL Keys all at the same time and release them and see what happens, Also Try and see if you can get the CD/DVD to open up when powering on. see if there may be something stuck in the drive, Also did you try it with just the battery, and no power cord plugged in, try that too, if that don't work I will do some more intense research online for you and find out what in the heck is going on. if you have to clear cmos or what, sorry about you problems but I will try to solve if that don't work for you, you may also try holding the power button down for 10 to 20 seconds, I sure hope that gets you going ,

How do i fix my LCD?

Hi,
I have got a hp pavilion dv5000, when I turn on it the screen goes blank.

Power led glows, I hear for a few time the fan, disk led flashes intermittently and also I feel that the DVD player tries to load.

If I try to click on caps lock or num lock, leds don't respond to commands. I tried the hard reset pressing the power button for 30 seconds with the battery and the power removed. Nothing to be done by connecting an external monitor....

What can I do ?qqb002.gif

Thank you

Hi there,
It sounds like a hardware issue, if you're getting the LED's blinking when pressing power, there IS power to your mainboard (which is a good thing). Some manufacturers have placed LED blink codes within the system to let you know what's going on, but I have a feeling it's either A) your battery or B) your hardware, such as a bad RAM stick.
Try removing the battery and with the power plug connected switch the laptop on. If it works, you've got a bad battery.
Try removing a single RAM stick or replacing both.
You could search HP Pavilion LED blink codes to further address the issue.

HP DV6110us: 4 beeps, no boot

besides the beeps which indicate a motherboard timing issue. There should be LED blinking codes given on the front LEDs. I will include the blink codes below, but lets try to at least get the system up and running. First, I would like you to remove the RAM sticks from the laptop and just reseat one stick back in the machine. Try to boot with that one stick, if it does not, try the other alone. There have been issues when reseating the ram or re-installing it have temp. fixed the issue. If it does reboot, go to the HP support site, put in your model number of your laptop and download and install an updated BIOS. Below are the blink codes that may narrow down the problem.....

HP DV6000 LED Blink Codes

LED Component Error Condition
Blinking battery power LED Battery Insufficient charge on the battery
Blink: 1 - Caps Lock/Num Lock CPU CPU not functional
Blink: 2 - Caps Lock/Num Lock BIOS BIOS corruption failure
Blink: 3 - Caps Lock/Num Lock Memory Module error not functional
Blink: 4 - Caps Lock/Num Lock Graphics Graphics controller not functional
Blink: 5 - Caps Lock/Num Lock System board General system board failure
Blink: 6 - Caps Lock/Num Lock BIOS BIOS authentication failure
