I have a sharp AR-M205 using sharpdesk 2.7 and can only scan from the simplex to a tif file, would like to scan as a pdf file. when i scan 1 document from the platten i can save as a pdf but cannot with the multiple page document

You can also right click on the file and left click on "open with" and then select choose program. In the list of programs choose Adobe reader and then at the bottom of the window put a check mark next to "always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
This should take care of the issue

The problem is you don't have enough memory to scan A3 in 600dpi. You can either try lowering the dpi or add additional memory.

Found a very good solution...Use Adobe Acrobat to do the scanning. Launch Adobe Acrobat and select the AR-M205 as your scanner and proced from there. Adobe will pull up the Sharpe software to do the actual scanning but Adobe will be in charge and create a pdf file. I am using Adobe 6.0 which is not one of the free versions, I think.

Check your default program for .tif files by going into my computer and finding a tif file. Move the mouse over to the file and press the right mouse button and select properties. Check the opens with icon to see which program it is using. If it isn't set for Microsoft Word, press the change with button and select Microsoft Word. Press the Ok button.

Your tif files should open with Word.

Postscript is an added extra on most Sharps, therefore it wont support Pdf, try printing as an image in the advanced tab, this sometimes works

Who and where do you get the idea that you should be able to, to scan in colour you need a colour scanner, yours is not it has a greyscale scanner only.

This machine has a scanning kit option but that is not colour see specs below.
