sometimes the picture on this monitor used to fade out to all black when my comp was idle but blocked from going standby. and recently it just quit working. when i power up my comp, the monitor gets all red, then yellow, then blue like spilled color until it all goes out to black. the computer is ok, and the cable is ok. and monitor shows correctly the "no cable -- power save" message so it isn't the display. what exactly died and how to repair it!?

- Well. I did reseat RAM and the video card I guess (the one connected to the monitor port) and I connected an alternate monitor which worked properly. But the Sony monitor still just shows these trippy spilled color effects (in synch with computer's start) which soon fade to all-black. I think some input circuit is fried since "no input -- switching to power save mode" message still appears on the monitor perfectly nice. Please if anyone has experience let me know if this is repairable.
first u have to chk whether the screen has that kind of a colour in BIOS> if it has its a monitor issue> if not it can either be the video card that u use> or else the graphics chip on ur computer motherboard> u can still try Reseating RAm and CMOS on ur motherboard then chek if ur computer boots with display
