Question about Aiptek A-HD 720P Flash Media Camcorder

Aiptek 720pHD Digital Camcorder

I can record and view the videos fine with the recorder and can also view them on Windows Media Player in Vista, but cannot seem to get the video to play in Windows Movie Maker in Vista. I have tried to import the images in but the computer does not recognize a digital device, yet I can open the drive port that it is in and find the file, copy and paste it in Movie Maker, but it only recognizes it as a audio file even though it says it is a .mov file. Bizarre. It will play the audio however.
When I first connect the device windows launches the screen that allows me to access files from a connected source, but of course if I double click the file it will launch it in Windows Media Player. Please Help.

I used the installation disk that came with it and also added quicktime 7.0 as it requested I am running XP2 I can retrieve the still camera photos, but when it comes to the video your wasting your time fooling with it. I think the best solutions it to return it for a refund and purchase another brand of camera I also e-mailed aiptek support as of today I have not received a response

I'm having issues with this Camcorder also... It's a great unit, and I like the quality, but when it comes to downloading the movies and re-playing them on using either Windows Media Player or Quicktime, it plays back super slow, no matter what adjustments you make to your settings. What's going on???

Hey I had the same problem, you need to buy a movie converter program. I bought Movie edit pro 12 by magic (which your soppose to do all this cool crap with but I only use it to convert) and then you can convert the .mov file to a .wmv file so you can put it in the windows movie maker which is how I do it. The program was 50$ at best buy and I think you can buy a cheaper video convert program ofline if thats all you want to do. Any questions or comments email me at

Burning videos to a dvd

This may be due to the fact that the Aiptek A-HD records to a quicktime format. There is a copy of quicktime in the disk that came with the camcorder. Now I don't know if this is quicktime Pro or not (I work on a mac, so quicktime is already installed, but the comps at my school are vista based) but if you don't have quicktime pro (you can check by right clicking on a video in quictime and if some of the options are unusable because they say "pro" next to them, you don't have quicktime PRO. It's $20 for quicktime pro, and it's very well worth the money. You can change format without losing quality, and so much more! Also WMM is not very HD compatible, you should put it in DVD format :) Hope this helped- (youtube user) animation508

I can't get my Window's Vista to reconize my Aiptek 720 Hd Camcarder. Why??

You need quicktime, because the Aiptek 720p records to .mov (quicktime) format. If you still have the CD that the camcorder came with, the software is on it. If not, go to google, and search for quicktime free version download. Although I recommend the pro version, due to the fact that it allows conversion of files. It's about $20. Hope this helped-

Aiptek - Video and sound is out of sync

Are you recording in High Def? When I tried that on mine the same thing happened. That definitely has to be played back on Hi Def TV and the computer probably isn't capable of handling that. Switch to DVD mode, or Web cam mode and you won't have a problem.
