my kodak easy share C643 shows up black on the lcd screen when I open the camera to take a picture.

- I have the same "black screen" problem with my Coolpix 5700 camera. The battery is fully charged, but I tried reinserting it along with the SD card. I can view the pictures on the card, see the menu, and the display shows up along the bottom of the LCD screen, but the screen itself remains black. The viewfinder is also black when you switch to it.- Guest

- I have the same problem on a Nikon Coolpix 5700. The LCD is ok and displays the menu and pictures from the compact flash card but when I try to take pics the screen is black just the same as the other users described.

- same exact problem... kodak M753, it's brand new. took pictures fine for the first few times I usd it, but now the LCD screen will not show anythign I am pointing the camera... it's just black. NEED HELP!!!- stephaggie

- Black LCD, seems to take pictures, pictures are black as well. Menu and review of pics on storage card work fine. Changed batteries, no help.- lucybelle

ive opened the canon powershot 1s IS. id had the problem that the LCD stated black from the beginning.

i opened the lens(is that an english word for all the glasses???) and i saw what the problem was.

to take a picture, a very small (valve??) opens and closes very fast. this valve? was sticked together by something like glue. i removed the glue(smaller than one piece of sand) and the camera works fine.

i'm sorry for my bad english, but i'm dutch.

its easy and done whitin 2 hours.

My Nikon coolpix 5700 shows nothing through the viewfinder or the LCD screen. You can see the menues fine and they appear to function. You can snap a picure and hear the shutter - but no picture.

I'm having the same problem. LCD screen is black. I can see the menu on the screen, but not the subject. I thought it may be the battery, but the problem remained after the camera was fully charged. Please help.
