Make sure the thermocouple is well into the flame. Remove the pilot assembly and clean out any debris in the pilot orifice. Tighten the connections to make sure there is no gas leak and lastly, replace the thermocouple again. You may have gotten a bad one.

Is it possible to buy a replacement element for a Rinnai Gas Heater - Model 205F (the small - approx. 15cm in length, diam. approx. 5mm -)vertical glass tubes that illuminate as the heater warms up)? Where can I purchase them from? How much are they? Are they easily installed or do I need a specialist repair man to install it? Thanks,
