Maytag Neptune dryer just stopped working, like it has no electricity. There was a load of laundry in the dryer and I went out to get it because it stopped drying, put another load in and it would work. I thought maybe the breaker got tripped but the washer was going and I turned it off and back on the breaker that is. Its really weird. Took it apart and found nothing visibly wrong.
Does anybody know where I can start trouble shooting on the dryer?
You want to start at high limit thermostat or thermal fuse
its white and has two small wires
it sits on the heat tube
it could be black too
it is shaped like a warped ball
and is rather flat
sears has them in stock
ive included the part number to help

Testimonial: "You were very helpful and I appreciate it. It ended up being the main breaker on that line. So the landlord replaced the breakers and Bam it was fixed"

here is a direct link and a picture to show you what i mean
the part im talkng about is part number 11
hope this helps
ok one sec lets back up
please clarify your maodel numer
gas/ electric
im a little bit of a loss
you should have an electric due to the model number submitted
if this is true, and your unit is not currently working you may have a problem with your outlet
if possible please explain wire configuration
i dont understand how a your dryer out let would affect any othe circuit
your dryer runs on 220v there should not be any other outlet between it and the breaker box
in the breaker box, it should be a 50amp breaker, in most cases this is a double breaker
if you can check voltages i would start at the outlet, and work backwars to ensure your power is set up correctly,,, if you have outlets on the same circuit as the dryer, your problems begins there,,
until we are sure you have 220v at the outlet i would be remiss if i diagnosed another part....

Hey there thanks for the help, would you mind telling me what the heating tube is. I can only access the dryer from the front of the machine? Just wondering if you could help me with that. Thanks
You are awesome thank you I managed to find the right one then. I hope this fixes it! I just wish I could find the part here in Austin for a descent price.
Hey there I changed out that part and nothing is happening.
Its like it isnt getting power. I am not 100% sure about the wall plug but I have flipped off the breaker and it turns off all the other plugs along that wall.
anymore ideas of what I can try? I am at a loss.
its electric but I was only saying that all the plugs work that are on that electric line so only explaining that the outlet has to be working. so therefore it leads me to believe it is the machine and I don't know where to start. I replaced the thermal fuse per your suggestion and it still is not working. I thought you might have another idea as to what to do now. It just has no power at all what so ever.
ok so the outlet is registering 115 and the dryer is 120/240...so that isnt the problem. What should we try next?
ok so I am going to have an electrician coem look at it. I did check the outlet and it was only registering a 115 volt on the meter I used. I think one of the breakers is blown I will get back to you on it.
