Question about Kodak EasyShare Z612 Digital Camera

No Flash function on Kodak Easyshare Z612

I am posting this before I send my camera out for repair. The Easyshare Z612 will not flash at ALL. The LED to the right of it works fine, the pop-up flash will not work. I have tried all the FAQ's and troubleshooting at Kodak. I have tried charged batteries, forced flash (full on), very dark rooms, etc. I wanted to know if there is something simple that I could fix before I either scrap the camera or send it in for repairs.

Re: No Flash function on Kodak Easyshare Z612

To both, I'm afraid you need to send the out camera for repair.

Camera flashes use a capacitor that holds the electric energy for the flash. It takes some time to charge and discharges very rapidly to generate the light pulse. Capacitors are notorious in their reliability. They tend to disconnect and die or short circuit and die.

In camera1234's case it might just died disconnected.

In sheranne case it might died short circuiting. In this case the camera should not be used since the battery might explode.

Hye! can we use umberella lights with this cemers kodak z612 ?

To use umbrella lights, you need a hotshoe connection on top of the camera to attach a radio transmitter. This would set off the umbrella lights. Some high-end DSLR cameras do this very well.

My kodak z612 only flashes once in awhile

The flash has to "charge" up a high-voltage capacitor in order to work.

As a test: try a few flash shots, but wait ten seconds between shots. It should flash 100% of the time. If not, use new Alakaline batteries and try the test again.

If all works well, see how many you can "flash" while waiting only 2 seconds... some may work, others not. You will then get a fell of how many seconds you have top wait between flash shots.

Also, use flash for subjects nearby (up to 12 feet) ... no flash beyond that. Increase the ISO setting HIGHER (3200?) so that the flash doesn't work so hard.

Results? Use fully-charged Li-Ion or alkaline batts when you need to use the flash.

Kodak z612 camera now underexposes all flash photos, and overexposes all outdoor photos.

Check your settings. You probably have something set on manual control. Just set the camera's settings for automatic and you should be good to go.

Flash not working

this appears to be something that kodak would need to repair. Go to this link My digital camera is broken. How can I get it repaired or serviced? and follow the instructions on the screen, if this does not help then there is an option to send a repair request to kodak, which they will do free if it is still under guarantee.

I hope this helps
