Question about Kodak EasyShare Z612 Digital Camera
I am posting this before I send my camera out for repair. The Easyshare Z612 will not flash at ALL. The LED to the right of it works fine, the pop-up flash will not work. I have tried all the FAQ's and troubleshooting at Kodak. I have tried charged batteries, forced flash (full on), very dark rooms, etc. I wanted to know if there is something simple that I could fix before I either scrap the camera or send it in for repairs.
To both, I'm afraid you need to send the out camera for repair.
Camera flashes use a capacitor that holds the electric energy for the flash. It takes some time to charge and discharges very rapidly to generate the light pulse. Capacitors are notorious in their reliability. They tend to disconnect and die or short circuit and die.
In camera1234's case it might just died disconnected.
In sheranne case it might died short circuiting. In this case the camera should not be used since the battery might explode.
