I trash picked a jvc mxgc5 , the other day I have been planning on building a line in on an old boom box via the tape deck to boost my mp3 music rather then the puny sound out of my laptop speakers then I found the jvc the plan was to use the usb line in and find some decent speakers , the cd tray was deff already messed up and I didnt really care since I was really only looking to use the unit as an amp , I have the same problem as all of you , the demo works fine , but the display is half assed when I put it in to any other mode then it says protect and good bye in broken lcd text even though I know all the lcd zones work in the demo , I shall try a difftent power source , could it be these things where all programmed to self destruct in dec 2007? hhaha we'll figure this out somehow

Googlehead Here,
My solution was to break it all open save the 3 cd changer for an auto- lazy Susan for my pain killer selection I have since had fun desoldering all the caps and popping them with a power bar and an extention cord and some household current , the alum. heat sink brought me 45 cents at the scrap yard

Did you check the diodes and capacitors?
Maybe this helps:

Also there are 2 z-diodes PZD1 and PZD2 near the power supply under and next to the big aluminum heating. One of it was burned out on my one...

I dont know if it will work for you - but here is what I did:
I turned off the power and pulled out all the cables. Left it like that for about 24 hours - and when I plugged the cables back in it just worked - and it has since.

Will the unit power up without the cb radio? I would suggest a short somewhere in the system if the protection light continues to shine bright.

TV screen Flashes blue and then shuts off.

When it flashes blue, are the flashes bright blue lines going across the screen with the picture in the background, if so, It sounds like the Blue tube or blue driver circuit is breaking down after a short period of time. If this is the case, the uPC that controls the set is detecting a large current drain on and is shutting the set off for protection, An engineers expert eye is required I`m afraid. Ian.

Need help with HT-z410

When your home theater's display reads PROTECTION, it means the home theater is over heating and the unit will shut down to prevent any damage. This can happen if the unit is stacked along with other electronic devices or the unit is in an enclosed area that prevents the unit from cooling properly. To decrease the chance of overheating, relocate your home theater to a more open area.

If the home theater display reads PROTECTION every time you turn it on, no matter where or how the unit is placed, it needs service. To set up service call Samsung Customer Care at 1-800-SAMSUNG (1-800-726-7864). Have your model number and serial number on hand to set up service.

I have a samsung home theater system HT-X70. After 10 to 15 minutes the word protection scrolls across the screen then goodbye and finally the unit shuts itself off.

ther is dc voltage applying your speakers by amplifire itself and turn on speaker protection circuit itself.
it can be happens because
1.loose connection in amplifire board
2.faulty output section of amplifire
3.short circuit of speakers
4.error detecting circuit faulty.
if youcan open the cover and clean the circuit for dust and resolder the circuit with 30 W soldering iron cairfully.if you want the more asistence please come again
ican hlp you more.

Unit shuts itself off after 10 -15 minutes

Protect mode will kick in whenever a fault is detected.

You get the unit not powering up, and sometimes you hear a clicking noise, that is the protection switch that keeps shutting down the unit.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Kenwood XD-A5 - "protection" shut off feature

This is a safety feature and can not be shut off. The system is detecting a problem in the last output stage of the amplifier and is shutting down to prevent further damage. I suspect a bad coupling capacitor in the pre-amp stage. This is a relatively simple repair for an experienced servicer. Figure on $10 or so for parts plus the local labor rate.

Protection Error when switching on SD-43HK

You will need to get a service manual and trouble shoot what amp. circuit is defective. if you have no solid state printed circuit board experience, you really should take this unit in to a repair shop and have it estimated. There is no quick fix for this unit. Good Luck.
