Nintendo DS charger plug is stuck

My daughter just opened up her new DS and my son (a seasoned veteran at the game) helped her set it up. He plugged in the charger, and when he went to unplug it, the plug would not come out. I looked at it and can see that it seems that the plug is stuck in such a way that it is articulating on something. The charger is from a pelican play pack. Any suggestions?

Yup got the same problem. Bought one for my father which arrived today. He plugs it in to charge it and then can't get the adapter out. Seems to have locked itself in somehow. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Have the exactly same problem. Very frustrating. Seems like it is a known fact. Why is it not being checked before they ships these productsIin my case I got it yesterday from Amazon).

Hi, yes have the same problem. Plugged in the charger on Christmas day and it is stuck fast!. The console works fine but i can' remove the charger. I thought that maybe i had inserted it incorrectly but no. This was a gift from Santa for my 7 year old son and even though he doesn't mind, until i saw other people with the same problem, i wasn't aware that it was a fault with the console. Has anyone had a problem with the shop you returned it to? I got it in Exravision so I hope the will replace it for me. Can anyone let me know? I am in Ireland. Thanks

If you can fit anything in between the charger and the socket like a piece of very thin laminate etc you may be able to free that lodged pin, make sure if you do try this you use something non conductive and you also remove the battery first.

We had same problem and went for 3 days trying to sort this out.  we read this forum and the "side to side wiggle" did the trick.  THANK YOU.  now it does in and out just fine.  it only had a problem on the first plug-in.

Mine was from Argos but I think it may be a problem with the DS. A side to side wiggle with a fair bit of pull sorted it for me.

Unfortunatly I had the same problem. I found that if you pull at it with a little bit of force, at an angle it comes out. If that does not work jiggle it for a sec or two and try again. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

I actually ran across that same problem yesterday and no amount of "wigginling" helped. So I used this guide http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=98240 to open it up and fix the little piece that had gotten the charger stuck in the first place. So I'd recommend doing that if you don't mind opening it. You will need a triwing srewdriver which is rare to find, I had to buy one from an electronic hardware store for 7 dollars, but it worked. So good luck to anybody else that runs into this problem.

I just had the same problem with Nintendo DS bought in US used with SpeedLink accessory power adapter for 220 V. Side-to-side wiggle + slight lift angle to the upper side and quite some pull force got it out. However, native 110V plug works okay. There seems to be a slight dent on SpeedLink one, not sure if it was a result of this pull, but thanks everyone for suggestions!

I took mine back to the shop i bought it from as it was still within my 28 days and they replaced it. the person behind the counter gave it a huge tug whilst keeping grip of the charger plus by wrapping the cable around his hands (which i certainly didnt want to do) it came free.

inspection of the plug showed that it was slightly misshaped and we didnt try it again. my new one is absolutely fine - so i would advise getting it replaced as you dont know what problems this could cause down the line.

Where would you recommend I send it into? Back to Nintendo?

I got mine out, had to disassemble the ds.
The problem was a pin on the upper side of the ds inside the charger opening. The pin locked in a hole in the plug from the charger.
So if you dont want to disassemble your ds you'll probarbly have to send it in.

Car chargers stuck in nintendos, 2 upset daughters

did u try plugging them back in to the car ,maybe they heated up if so plug them in leave them for as long as when it happened and then try with a pliers for extra grip(twisting), a bad idea would be to splice the wires with the wall chargers by cutting of the ends and joining them that way but you would need to now what you are doing

Nintendo DS Lite - does not charge

i would suggest trying to find what the issue is, if you know anyone who has a different charger, try it on your daughter's ds. if it still doesn't work, it's a DS problem...if it's under warranty, go to whatever store you bought it at and have them fix or replace it. If you try the different charger and it DOES work, then the only problem is the charger...so then all you have to do is go buy a new charger...hope this helps.
