Your HARD DRIVE (aka: Hard Disk), located on the left side of the unit, has crashed. You will need to replace the HD.

Would like to tell you that there is nothing wrong with your PS3, but it's the T.V that is causing the problem.

Unfortuntely, the only thing that will cause a thin line or two is the lcd panel assembly. The cost to replace this would be really high so the best you can do is put up with it as long as you can, then replace the set.

Apologies on the bad news but i must be honest with you. I have seen this with all makes of both lcd and plasma tv's

two problems. 1) not reading games or movies is due to a bad laser. It needs to be replaced depending on the model it will take a kes-400aaa(60,80gb and some 40gb) or kes-410a all newer ps3's use this laser. 2) Crashing online can be due to the system over heating. Make sure the system is horizontal never stand them up verticle this causes serious cooling issues. Also these units do get filled with dust and animal hair which cloags the vents. I have noticed that the ps3 runs much hotter when a wireless internet connection.

try to play it on its side not vertical you may be blocking air intakes and system will turn itself off to avoid frying itself it has internal thermometer try to leave your ps3 in an open area also try putting a fan by it to keep air around it cool

you will have to restore your whole system, just completely start over.

Actually only 60GB PS3s supports PS2 games. But It requires particular firmware. In first instance try updating your system, then dissable the disc autoload function, insert PS2 game, and look at the game section if your soft will recognise it. If yes just try to play
