My sound as gone on my toshiba regza tv

I have had this toshiba regza tv for just over a year - and all of a sudden the sound as gone - picture is perfect. I have taken the cables out and put back in. I have taken the mains and put back in, i have turned the tv on and off - and still no sound. Any ideas on how to get sound back - is this a common problem??
