Two weeks ago as i buy my acer extensa 4630z laptop, then i encountered a no boot device detected as i start my laptop.I checked the bios no hdd device, but when i load setup default and saved the changes and start, then it works it can access to windows. but its not normal/good every time i start my laptop with this steps that you need to load setup dafault before you can go on windows. Any have an idea on how to fixed this problem?

Sorry, I think the proposed solution will not work. I'm sure the problem is not from OS(Windows) it is from hardware or maybe software in BIOS. It is because, i already reformat the SYSTEM still the problem exist, as i checked the BIOS no HDD detected that's why when i start my laptop it message no boot device, but when i reset the BIOS by load setup defaults then it works can access to windows. Anybody have an idea on how to fixed it?

reply from comment dated oct. 10,2009. maybe you have a point, but i strongly believed that the problem is from mainboard or bios, because when i reset the bios by setting up to load setup defaults the system works normally it can access to windows, even when i restart the system it works ,but when i shutdown the unit and power up again it arrives to no boot device detected, you need to setup bios again by loading setup defaults so that it works. and i think no problem with the hard disk because when i open some files located in all partition, no problem its fine and no crashing i encountered which is a symptoms of some bad sectors in hard disk.

I am thinking that you may have a virus or malware that has infected your system to be getting this type of problem. Go to the following sites and download and runs these apps. in an attempt to find and clean the system.

Ruun this next program and perform a quick scan, show the results when scan is complete and delete everything it finds.

This next app is a free anti-virus that just needs you to register it once a year...that's it. install this program and when it asks to perfrom a bootup scan, answer yes, that way this program will scan your hard drive before windows actually loads, that way all files will be scanned.

If you are getting a no hdd detected even after you reformat, this may be an issue with the hard drive itself, usually when a booting failure occurs from a abad hard drive, the system tries another boot device such as network drives. The computer will throw a code such as PXE no media detected. Hard drive failure willcause these issues.

Make recovery disk for acer extensa 4630z?

If you have precious files on your HDD and it's inaccessible at present I would download a copy of Puppy Linux and burn it to CD (or buy one off ebay for 2 euros). Boot off this and browse to your HDD, copy files to a USB memory stick if you have one. I assume you've tried SYSTEM RESTORE in Windows and it isn't accessible or doesn't work. If this is so, you could try ebay for these extenza recovery disks. Failing that you should use your Windows installation disk to do a REPAIR INSTALL (Google for instructions). If you have not got one you could buy one from ebay for your OS but that could be costly. A cheaper way is to buy one of the many system restore disks available on ebay but you will risk having malware. Good Luck

ACER 4630z will not boot up

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard disk has failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty. First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Good day i have tried to install Win XP on my acer aspire laptop after formatting the HDD on another machine but i cant, the acer did not recognise the HDD. what do i do

Do you have an Xp disk? This is the only way I know of to install Windows Xp without encountering any problems.

You will need the disk; also you need to make sure that the boot options see that you want it to boot from your cd drive. When you start your computer up, get to this screen by hitting the key to enter setup options shortly after hitting the power button. It's where you change your BIOS and other stuff.
This is where you can make sure it recognizes your new HDD and change your boot option to #1-boot from cd drive.

Reply to this if you need more info.

Hope this helps.

Acer Extensa supports two model of HDD installation 1) AHCI and 2) SATA.

Windows Vista get installs on both but for Windows XP you need to Enable SATA option.

For that go into Bios, Change option of Hard Disk from AHCI to SATA. After that you can install both XP as well as Vista.

Try it, and mail me update: [email protected]
