Re: hard disk probleme

If you are still able to read from the drive, i would copy all of your important files off of it and replace with a new one.

Hard disk failure

Check if your hard drive is still in warranty period so you could ask for replacement from the manufacturer. Otherwise, simply buy a new hard drive and move all your data from the old one to the new drive.

SMART always predicts correct hard drive status and probably this time, you need to change it ASAP.

Hope it helps!!

SMART Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 0: st9100824as-(s1)) WARNING: Immediatelly back-up your data and replace you hard **** drive. A falure may be imminent. Press F1 to continue

Hi sqarrab,

A SMART Drive failure indicates that your hard disk is about to die. Sometimes it will last a few says, sometimes even months. Refer the link below for more information.

I suggest you keep a backup of all your data as soon as possible. Once the hard disk fails, there's nothing you can do to get your data back. To get rid of the message, buy a new hard drive, and then copy back all your data.

I have a imminent failure and when I press F1 then I start installing Windows the system doesn't detect my HDD. I have a bad sectors and I know it. But I can't solve it. Can you tell me more information...

The motherboard is quering the 'S.M.A.R.T.' status of the disk-drive,
and the disk-drive is reporting that it is about to "fail".
So, your motherboard is showing that "Imminent failure -- press F1 to ignore this alert" message.

Take your computer to a qualified technician, to see if it is "too late" to recover any files from your disk-drive, and/or to install a new disk-drive, and to install Windows.

I can not access my computer after imminent failure message

> imminent failure message ... cannot access

Bad luck that the 'imminent' failure was _SO_ soon followed by _complete_ failure.

Buy a new disk-drive. Disconnect the old disk-drive.
Install Windows to the new disk-drive.
Reconnect the old disk-drive, as a 'slave' disk-drive, and hope that you can access the files on it, even though you could no longer 'boot' Windows from it.

It says imminent failure but wasok till i updated to sevice pack 3

The imminent drive failure notification is from the S.M.A.R.T. feature on your hard drive. It means your drive is not working according to specs. More that likely when you installed SP3 the drive was accesses more than normal and the controller electronics noticed the errors. The Hard drive can detect when it is operating out of the range that is ok. You need to backup your data and replace your hard drive as soon as possible to prevent data loss.

I hope this help, If so please rate my solution.

S.M.A.R.T Command failed

It means that the hard disk SMART monitoring system has detected problems serious enough to warn you of the growing possibility of hard disk failure. Sometimes a drive will last quite awhile after this first notification, but there is a good chance of imminent failure, in minutes, hours, days, or weeks. You should immediately look into installing a replacement drive.

You should immediately copy any important data off the drive, perform full backups, and limit use of it.

If you can install drives yourself, a new hard disk (especially Seagates) usually come with software to clone your existing drive to the new drive. Otherwise, a repair shop will be able to do it for you.

I recommend also purchasing a drive enclosure for your old drive. For whatever life it still has, it will be a good backup of your system.
