Viewsonic VPW450HD Plasma

Hello from Germany,

when I lived in the US, I bought in 2004 a.m. Plasma. I`m back in Germany
and some days ago my plasma stopped working. I lost the picture. The green power is on, but no picture at all. I cannot turnoff the power light with my radio control unit anymore. The TV was not produced in Europe, therefore no local dealer has the software to do a fault isolation. Do you know which company produced the panel for this plasma TV? Is it possible to get the software to check the TV out? Is it possible to get a technical manual?
Viewsonic provides me no support at all !!! The TV was very expensive and I
will try all chances to get this TV working again !!!
Please support me!

Many greetings from Germany, a merry christmas and a happy new year

Dieter

Hi from Oz,

I can't find you a service manual on Viewsonic stuff nor any diagnostic tools, I think you will find only Authorised Viewsonic plasma dealers (link) would be allowed access to such items they are kept very much within the dealership circle these days via registered net access to protected sites.

I have seen a post with your TV exact fault mentioned and the result of a viewsonics tec of the problem, but sadly the final result has yet to be posted, I have issued a request for this to happen.

The part required should be:
Part: Logic Board Assembly
Part#: NA18106-5006
LINK to post

It also seems that you may need to send unit for repair, if you notice in other link they charge in the US a flat workshop fix fee (US$325)

I'm sure there must be a dealer in Germany, this is their website

LINK to USER manual

Viewsonic LCD use Samsung panels but not sure on plasmas

Sorry I couldn't help futher Merry Xmas.

Hi,

Did you try unplugging the TV from the power for a few hours?

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

How do I remove the mount for the stand on a Viewsonic VPW450HD Plasma TV?

If you are using the stock leg's.

I have the same model, there are 4 knobs on the back of the unit that get inserted into the legs. BE CAREFUL... the unit is heavy, All you have to do is raise one end of the unit up about 1 1/2" and pull towards you a little. You may have to fudge with it a little until it comes out of the leg, but that should be all you need to do.

42" Panasonic Plasma - Vertical red stripe 6" from left side

We originally had a red stripe roughly 3" wide running vertically on the ride edge area of our Panasonic 52" Viera plasma tv. It has now been joined by a solid black stripe of the same width running from the top to the bottom. Living in Germany and purchased at local PX long enough ago that the warranty is likely expired. Now what?

Problem with viewsonic VPW450HD 42' plasma T.V

Hello All,
I have a VPW450HD set that I just fixed. I get the feeling that they are not all the same inside, but this may be the same problem many of you are having. When turned on the green light on the front of the set would come on, if in a dark room I could see that there was some light to the screen ( not much ) but no picture and no sound. When I pushed the power button to turn the set off - it would not turn off. I had to turn it off from the main power switch on the back.

If you take the back off you will see a large square board in the center of the TV ( about 12" X 10" ). I would describe this as the main power supply board. Near the top there is a two wire connector with a Red & Black wire in it. Follow this wire up to the next board. It is a smaller board ( about 5" X 3" ) with the Red & Black wire connector near the top right corner. I would describe this board as a secondary power supply board. It sends the power down to the input board. On the secondary power supply board there is a six connector plug on the left side of the board. This is where I found the problem with mine. The connector is burnt and melted because of a " cold solder " joint. Carefully remove the secondary power supply board - you may be able to use the same connector if it is not to burnt and brittle. The six pins on the solder side of the board need to be re-soldered. These pins are thicker material than the other solders, and so do not solder well in a wave solder process. the pins do not get hot enough to solder properly, so over time an opening is created between the pin and the board.
Make sure you do not change the order of the wires if you have to replace the connector or if you solder the wires directly to the board. If you use the same pins and connector - check that they will make good contact. Often there is a residue on the pins and the small clips in the connector. I took the wires out of the connector and cleaned them ( one at a time ) with a small wire brush. A razor blade also cleans them well.

I hope this helps some or all of you !
Let me know if it worked for you or if you have questions.
Good Luck,
- Andrew
