A friend recently borrowed my EOS 400D to take photos at my wedding. Upon its return I found the CF card eject button had dropped inside the chamber. Turning the camera upside down, and gently tapping the base, the slider, runner and button came out in 3 pieces. I have been able to fit the 3 pieces together and I am able to eject the card by pushing the button back in but the slider assembly remains loose and falls out freely.
Is there any way thay I would be able to re-fix the slider assembly in place at home?
You have to tear down the camera to get at the CF slot, and if you're handy then yes you can do it.
Make sure you take out the battery and keep track of where everything goes as you take it apart. You will need to remove the back half of the body, then the LCD screen, and if memory serves you may need to unsolder the mainboard and remove it from the camera (plenty of ribbon cables to detatch as well) ...
If you can't do it yourself we can help you out no problem, we are an online digital camera repair shop!
Hope this helps.

Camera does not turn on even with freshly charged bateries. This happened just after I had a damage to my compact flash card. Could that be the cause of the power problem?
