Windows Vista Upgrade?

Purchased the Acer 3680-2022 from Best Buy. The Windows Vista keeps asking for me to purchase an upgrade. I thought Windows was supposed to come free on all computers.

Re: Windows Vista Upgrade?

This may be because the vista you have has not been registered or it is an upgrade from xp.

Vista doesn't have an upgrade yet, you can upgrade from xp, but not from vista. So this problem is wierd. Get in touch with Best Buy and let them solve the problem.

Hi i have a Windows Vista Upgrade disc but has no product code on disc or box .please help

Your best bet is to contact the person or company you purchased this software from. Contacting Microsoft about this issue will not resolve anything, as Microsoft didn't sell you the item. You can install Windows Vista using this Upgrade disc without a product key but you will not be able to login after 30 days of no product key.

I purchased Windows Anytime Upgrade with service Pack2. do I use 32 or 64-bitalso do I need to download Windows Vist Service Pak 2?

There is a nice article here about how the Windows Anytime Upgrade works.

Your questions is a little confusing. If the disk you purchased says it is "with service pack 2" I'm not sure why you would be asking this question.

So obviously there is more to it.

Anyway once you install the upgrade you should be able to go into Windows Explorer and drop down the help menu then choose the about option. This will tell you what version of windows you have and the current service pack level. If you don't have SP2 you can just download and install it.

Hope this helps.

Upgrading windows xp to vista

You can upgrade from your current edition of Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000 to a corresponding or better edition of Windows Vista by purchasing and installing an upgrade copy of Windows Vista.
While selecting the edition of Windows Vista that's right for you, it's important to clearly understand what hardware your PC will need to ensure the features you want will run reliably.
