Let me re phrase my problem. It is much more severe than what you think I have posted. The I get nothing in the LCD when I am trying to take a picture or when I am trying record a video. When I take the picture or record the video it is black. Does this actually help clear up my problem. If no please let me know, I am the worst person when it comes to explaining something.

Sweet_Rascal I appreciate your persistence. I will try everything you have listed when I get back to my room. Merry Christmas

Have you tried the display button, it turns off the display.

Sorry if you know this already, but have to try all bases first.

It still sounds like the display has been turned off. Digital cameras have a button that toggles the display from on (showing a picture) to on and showing settings as well as picture, to fully off (black screen).

By your description I still cannot tell whether you have tried the display button. Please tell me 'yes' you have tried it and it didn't work, then we can move on.

for more exact help with pictures refer page15 of your manual guide.
title will be USING THE LCD MONITOR
in that see the left flow diagram...
    that is what i meant..

  • dewan nafees ahmed Dec 25, 2007

if this dosent help you make sure the lens cover opens once you start the camera.

even after this the display is not coming means please tell me..

  • dewan nafees ahmed Dec 25, 2007

if doin al the above there is no result means do as i say.
take a snap with your view finder in your camera.
now connect to computer to see if you are able to download it to your system. if camera is not take pictures itself the CCD has got damaged.
else means there is a problem with your LCD alone..
this wont cost you much in your service center.
if CCD has went off it will cost a bit high. but compared to cost of camera this service charges are not much. u can spend very well. i just now spent 1800rupees for changing my battery lid due to battery leakage...:)

Click the "disp" button. The display of the camera has been turned off in the LCD screen but you can still use the viewfinder, this functionality is just for those who prefer to use the viewfinder instead of the LCD screen.

View screen won't work

Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

Can't get a picture on the screen - just shows black. When we turn the camera on the LCD screen displays the function choices and menu options, but will not display any image. If we take a picture using...

Check the SD card, they have sliders on them which lets you "lock" the card so nothing can be put on or taken off of it. Make sure that is off. Then go through the menu on the camera and try to format the card again. If the card is bad it should give you an error message when it tries otherwise you should be good :)

Did you accidentally press the DISP button on the back of your camera? This manually turns the screen on and off to save batteries. Try pressing this button one more time to see if it turns the screen back on.
