Re: Equilizer

I need more information to help you. The equalizer has to go in between two devices to have an effect.

Like this:

  • Multiple units' (CD Player, Tuner, Cassette, etc.) OUTPUTS to Pre-amplifier INPUTs
  • Pre-Amp OUTPUT to Equalizer INPUT
  • Equalizer OUTPUT to Amplifier INPUT
If you don't have a separate Pre-Amp, you have to try something else. Re-post if this is the case...

How do I hook up a graphics equalizer SH-GE70 to the amp SU-A707? I've already plugged in the CD player SL-PG5 and the tape deck RS-TR474M2, but can't see how to wire in the graphic. If I could...

Try this. You need 4 RCA setreo Chord for this.

1. connect the cd player out to the LINE input of Equlizer.
2. connect the Record out of equlizer to Tape's Record input.
3. connect the Play out of the Tape to the Play in of Equlizer.
4. connect the Line out of the Equlizer to the CD input of amp.

Always Select CD in the amp. And select between tape and CD in the Equlizer.

OUTs to INs. Record is IN, Playback is OUT.

Be advised that any analog sound processor on a multichannel AV will ONLY work on analog sources and activation of the Tape Loop will disable digital sources.

SECURE line? Nothing is secure anymore.

We have live sound and where do you begin to find the proper setting with an equilizer?

Always start from flat( sliders all in the middle) . If you are eqing for feedback open up your microphone volume to where they just start to ring, and then back down just under the point where they ring. SLOWLY and individually slide up slightly each slider one at a time in the range you think the ringing is coming from (low, mids, highs). When the ringing starts to occur back that slider under the middle setting down maybe 3 db to 6 db. Keep repeating this until most all of the ringing stops. The main trick here is to not slide too many sliders below the middle. If you do, you will actually start losing volume in the whole sound system.

If you are eqing the system for the room, gradually add or take down sliders while listening to a band or music. You can be a good judge here by making an adjustment, and then walking around the room to hear the difference. Practice makes perfect here. Keep in mind most speakers will not produce sound below 40hz, so boosting 20hz or so will not help. By the same token most people over 25 can't hear above 12-16khz so the same is true here. Good Luck

Yamaha equilizer is over heating

unexpected heat in electronics can be a symtom of a fault or maybe it not getting enough air to cool, or perhaps just needs a good old fashioned clean, check all the vents if they look blocked or grubby, then
turn it off unplug all the wires and open it up give it good clean inside if it dusty.

If the inside looks spotless, then i am afraid you have a component problem.
Put the lid back on, with enough screws loose to make it safe then leaving the unit with free air round it reconnect all the wires and turn it on, leave it for awhile and monitor the heat build up. Once it is running hot unplug all the wires whip off the lid and very carefully check the different areas inside for heat IT MAY BE HOT IN PLACES. make a note of what you find, even if its just a sketch showing the hot bits.

Then you can talk to a tech/dealer about a possible repair. Suspect areas are the transformer, rectifer, psu dc caps

Hope this helps
Thanks for using FixYa

Whan connecting a graphic equilizer to a mixer do i go from my mixer to graphi inputs then from my graphic outputs to my amp

You could do that if you only need to EQ the end result of the mix.

Or if your mixer has an external processor loop you could place the EQ there and use the EQ on the mix first, or on a source within the mix. It would all depend on the mixer's capabilities.

I am trying to work 2 equilizers together in my stereo set

My big Q is - 'Why are you wanting to use two EQs in the first place, when one will suffice. But that is not for me to ponder over. :)

How are you trying to hookup the EQs? I have my eq connected between my preamp and amplifier. The other common method is to insert the eq in the tape loop between cassette and amplifier/preamp. Then select the tape loop to put the eq in the signal loop. You then connect your tape player through the tape monitor jacks on the back of the EQ and select this option in otder to play tapes.

If you have two tape inputs, then you can insert one eq into tape 1, and the other eq into tape 2 and choose accordingly. Bear in mind that you dont have to use the tape in order to use either EQ in your system. Just make sure you are using one EQ or the other. If you attempt to use both, then you run into potential signal 'corruption' (i.e. loss of datta or signal pumping, depending on the frequencies enhanced/attentuated).
