the circuit that maintains voltage to the color for the red color is weak and has possible weak or defective parts that need replacement. In this case it could be the high voltage tranformer or regulator at the color compensator circuit that maintains the balance of the color or color pins at the CRT tube. They are becoming weak and the tube may need replacement.

Screen goes white

check the -ve ground voltage (we called it G1) on the card back side of CRT gun. the 1 or 2 no. pin. when u switch on it the voltage must be between 40 to 60 in negetive. if don't then follow the track and replace the controller transister. also the electolytic capacitor in that line....change the filter near EHT transformer. (that might be 10mfd/250 volts DC). used to filter that negitive supply.

if the monitor is compaq or samsung model then it is different.
for that u have to tell me then i will tell u....

Typical failure is High voltage supply. Can you hear a high pitch whine or the relay click on and off? You will need some test point reffence voltages for the board and confirm you do not have a damaged VGA cable. It is not easy to give step by step via forum. Google "monitor repair", there were a couple good general guides that are printable. If youe high voltage tranformer (flyback) is gone, do not go any further. Price of a monitor flyback is $65 to over $100 depending on model.

Help on monitor repair

Have you checked the horizontal output transistor for a short or leakage?? most of these sets will not start up unless the horizontal sweep sends the pulse to the power supply and says start me up!! I would look at bthe drive as well on the horiz. curcuit. If theres a pulsating voltage that means its waiting for something to signal it to work or its missing something.. Good luck
