Constant hum from speakers

Speakers have worked well for about 6 months.

Had my system off for about 10 days and when I switched back on a constant and irritating hum is audible. Interesting that when I mute the speakers the hum is still there. Physically have to power off to get rid of the sound
Please help

It sounds like you might have a grounding issue. Try connecting to the wall outlet with a ground prong lifting adapter. Not just the speakers but the source plugged into the speakers also. Good luck.

I have the Klipsch Sub-10 Subwoofer, and it no longer plays music. Now it hums (vibrates constant) and corresponds (louder or softer) with volume control. Light is home but no one home situation. V

Does the subwoofer have the same hum when the input cables have been unplugged? Many input cables use very fine conductors, which often fail. A bad cable will often introduce a hum and prevent a signal from getting through. If the noise is still present without the input cable(s) connected, then repair options are limited. No schematics are available. There's a daughterboard that has been available, but its failure usually causes the system to die (short-circuit). The cost to repair the amplifier may be close to the cost to replace the entire sub.

Hi, what causes hums from speaker is when there is no ground shield from either the power supply or from the cable you plugged into the socket from the power supply.

So you will need to check that out and replace untrusted cables for connection..

If after doing this troubleshooting exercise, you will now need to test the speaker with another set to be sure the humming sound is not coming from there.

I guess that will Do.

Have a nice day...

Annoying hum from speakers w/system off

The big electrolytic capacitor(s) in the power supply. The filter out the 50/60HZ hum in the mains, so you could be hearing the mains hum!

Constant hum when the computers are connected

Hums come from several sources. A light dimmer switch on the wall. Speakers too close to a monitor or other electrical device. Try turning off everything in the room or nearby rooms, one at a time while the hum is audible.

Inifinity Entra Sub not working

The hum can be from the power supply not properly filtering, and or the output stage also has a short.

There is the chance that the speaker driver coil is now burned, or the power supply is now dead. If ther output stage is shorted and was putting DC on to the speaker cone, this will burn it very easily.

You should sent the unit out and have it serviced, unless you are properly trained, have the service and engineering manuals, and the test equipment to follow up on a proper repair and calibration.
