Magicolor no longer grabs thicker papers

My Minolta Magicolor 2400W no longer grabs the thicker paper stocks it used to. Now it only grabs thin plain paper. I tried setting the printer driver paper type to "thick stock" but that didn't work. Is there some adjustment I can make to get it to grab again?

Re: Magicolor no longer grabs thicker papers

I think you need to clean take up roller first, and then set the settings in printer propertis in thick paper.
shold work.

open cover, remove imagine unit, then you can see the take up roller. clean it.

Dear all, When I try to print on printer Magic Color 24300DL it does not "grab" the paper in the tray. It makes some tries, "rolling" but without any succes. Then I get a Media Jam Tray 1 error,...

I fixed the problem with the machine not grabbing the paper.....I simply opened the main lid and then reached in and pulled out the triangular insert (DRUM?) and then when you look inside all the way to the will see the rubber tongue that actually grabs the paper.....more than likely it will be dried out or dirty. If you clean it VERY carefully with a soft moist towelette maybe very little should clean back to grabbing again...of course I went another step forward and put Take Hold fingertip grip and massaged it into the rubber.......been working great ever since. Thicker stock I have to help with my finger.....but all regular stock should work just fine.....

Magicolor 2400w gives paper jam error at transfer roller, after I cleaned the printer -laser head.

My 2400W was standing a long time without being used, and when I wanted to use it, it made a very faint image and showed "paper jam at transfer roller". Also, the image stayed on the transfer belt, but never got transferred to the paper. I tried a lot of things, nothing worked, but the message from weirdal1968 above pointed me in the right direction.

I eventually scratched / scrubbed / cleaned the copper pad on the left side of the optical imaging drum - this copper pad probably receives the bias voltage for the imaging drum from a springy stainless steel wire. There was some visible darkening of the copper pad where the stainless steel wire touched, this is what I cleaned. And then, presto, problem solved - the image came out great, and no more "paper jam at transfer roller" error message.

Paper keeps jaming!

Print a test page, then when it jams, notice if the paper made it's way in to fuser (toward the back of the unit. If it got that far, your fuser may be bad.

Let me know.

Open the top cover of the printer and remove the drum (piece with long green handle). Look down inside the printer and you will see a roller with ridges. Clean that roller with formula 409. Try not to use alcohol because it dries the roller.

If you are printing on paper thicker than 23lb. bond, you want to make sure you select "thick stock" for the media type on your computer.

For instance... in your application click on file and then print. In the print window select properties (usually). On the setup tab of the next window you will see media type on the right side. Set it to the type of paper you are printing on. This should make the printer pick up the paper slower.

If the paper is thicker than 90lb index (160 g/m2) it is too thick to go through the machine.

Printing avery labels

You need to change the paper settings from plain to something thicker. The toner is not being heated properly for it to fuse to your paper. It needs to run at the correct speed and temperature in order to adhere properly.
Set it to a heavier stock.

Error light, can't find the problem

Hi, you should check the position of paper sensor flag, called "actuator" (part number 4139 3505 02). On the picture - part 15. The "paper jam" error message means also - "toner cartidge missing", "paper out" or "photoconductor missing" e8dd7eb.gif
