how long do the battery life last to be change? how will i know if it is time to change my battery my unit is a nuvi 250w..thanks

Batteries can last up to 2 years, depending on how often the battery is recharged. The more the battery is cycled (charge/discharged) will reduce its life.
You will know when the battery needs replaced when you find that the unit dies quickly even after being on the charger.
