come on, give me some credit.

.I purchased this camera in 2002 and it has been trouble free.. About 3 weeks ago i purchased a new battery charger, charged the batteries and put them in the camera. It worked fine. Once the camera said low battery life and shut down i put in another set of charged batteries,

Nothing---would not turn on. I charged up the original set and nothing.

I took it to my camera store and they put in new batteries, would not turn on.

They said it would cost $200 for Sony to just look at it(Minolta sold out to Sony)

I see on other posts that other people have the same problem. There camera turns on with the A/C adaptor but not with the batteries. I do not have an adaptor.

Before i buy a new camera i want to exhaust all means of repair short of sending to Sony and paying $200

contacts are clean.no shock that i know of

I don't have an AC adaptor for the camera but it's something i might buy.

Right now i have it apart, doing various continuity tests

    will try the static test

I am sorry...I didn't mean to insult you...

Say, has your camera suffered any physcially shocks/condensation/are the battery contacts clean?

Did you try disconnecting the camera from the AC and removing the batteries and holding the power button for about a minute to get rid of all static. Then replace batteries and try to turn it on.

Hi,

Camera might be damaged because of the fall, suggest to consult the Authorized Dealer near you (-see above link), or send it back to the store where you purchase it as it may be still part of the warranty.

Thank you

I have a sony cyber-shot DSC-W350. It is only a few weeks old but when I turn it on, the lens goes in and out two or three times and then it says "turn the power off and on again." I took the battery out...

If this camera is only a few weeks old it is stil under warranty. best route would be to take it back to the store and get a new one.
If you did not buy it at a store and it is still less than a year old, contact Sony directly (that will be a bit harder).
In third case, older than a year, means it is out of warranty and you will have to get it repaired.

My Sony DSC T 200 camera takes ages to start up

I found most Sony digital cameras took a little longer time to boot up on the first turn on after replacing battery. You can try turn off, then turn on again, see if it boots up quicker.

you will need to pack this camera as if you were packing a pack of ciggs or a deck of cards. this will cause it to resync with the lens.

Since your camera is still under warranty, best thing will be calling Sony's appropriate service center for their assistance. Good luck!
