I have a 2 year old Acer laptop ( with Vista) that I use at home with a Cisco router. If I were to take the laptop on a trip, do I need anything else? I've been searching for an answer on the internet. I found one answer that one needs a wireless network card or an Ethernet adapter. I then read that all newer laptops have built-in wireless cards, as well as several comments about how to turn on/off access, and recommendations for additional security. Does one have an Ethernet adapter by virtue of being wireless at home? I didn't find one simple answer.
Here is the service manual for your laptop. It is 20 mb, so give it time to download and then make a copy for yourself on the laptop for a reference. Your laptop is equiped with a tri-band wireless card with a built in antennae that actually wraps around the LCD display inside the bezel. The switch to turn the wireless radio on and off is on the right front of the laptop. It is just left of the right speaker grill. Your laptop is also equipped with a bluetooth card.

Very simple explanation; that is exactly what I was trying to find. Now to prove the solution, but it appears to be straightforward. Thank you!

My blue tooth device is not working. When I try to install the blue tooth software the system couldn't find any blue tooth hardware in my notebook. But according to the configeration there must be a bluetooth hardware in Aspire 5600 (my notebook) which can connect other blutooth devises. Please, send me some instructions.
