Restore data from prgm

If you backed up the calculator, you may be able to restore lost data. Failing that, there is nothing you can do.

I cannot find the Catalog button on my TI-82 calculator. Thanks in advance!

There isn't one. There are, however, several buttons that bring up various sub-catalogs, such as MATH, MATRIX, PRGM, STAT, and VARS.

When I type 12!/5!7! I'm getting 2.01180672e10. My answer is suppose to be 792. Please help.

Somehow you're calculating 12!/(5!/7!).

Press 1 2 MATH left-arrow 4 / 5 MATH left-arrow 4 / 7 MATH left-arrow 4 ENTER to calculate the desired value. Alternatively, you can press 1 2 MATH left-arrow 3 5 ENTER or 1 2 MATH left-arrow 3 7 ENTER to calculate the same thing.

Where is the fraction key on this calculator?

There isn't one. You can convert some values to fractional form by using the >Frac command on the Math menu available by pressing the MATH key. You can enter a fraction as a quotient, but the calculator deals with the number internally by converting it to decimal form.

For example, to see one-half plus one-third, press
( 1 / 2 ) + ( 1 / 3 ) MATH 1 ENTER

I try to write a fraction down on my TI-83 calc. But i dont know how to find that function. When i go to MATH and choose FRAC it doesnt do anything even if i type a number down next to it.

To keep a fraction in fraction format (though reduced) you must enter the numerator, press the Division key, followed by a number (denominator).

If you press ENTER, the fraction will be displayed as a decimal number.
However if you use the sequence [MATH][1:ToFrac] peior to pressing [ENTER] the result will be the irreducible form pf the fraction you entered.
Obviously, if you enter an interger number there will not be any fraction display.
Also, if your "number down next to it" means after the [ToFrac], then it is clear that nothing will happen.

Try what I suggest and see if that works.

My 1-var stats button is not working it says the

Hi,
You will have to report faithfully the message returned, you cannot use your interpretation of the message. Error messages are codified. Each one will correspond to very particular error conditions. I did check the manual for all possible error messages and there is none that states wrong info.

My hunch is that there are errors in your data, but I can't say what type of error: I do not have the actual message returned. Verify you data, item by item, and try again.

To make sure that the calculator is well configured to do statistics
  1. Press [STAT][5:SetUpEditor][ENTER]
  2. Press [2nd][0] (CATALOG) and press [PRGM] (C) to jump to the first command starting with C.
  3. Scroll down to [ClrAllListsts] and press [ENTER]
  4. Calculator replies Done
Restart your statistical data entry.

Hope it helps.

I want to be able to write things in my calculator, such as formulas, and save them so that I can access them again later.

Hello,

What you can do to save formulas on your calculator is while your calculator is on press the PRGM button scroll over to EDIT press ENTER then and start typing in the formulas you have (remember not to push CLEAR I learned the hard way and lost all my formulas, during my math final). While in the PRGM menu you can select NEW write a short name and press ENTER to have another area for typing (For example one area could be for Chemistry, one for Math, etc.) I hope that helps.
