Need to upgrade mainboard of my Pavilion dv9016ea

Usually in a laptop you can't just throw any motherboard in. Usually it has to be the same make and model. Sometime the boards can be interchangeable with in model families. However, I wouldn't bet on it.

Acer aspire 5943g

Hello you can ask your local acer shop to order a new mainboard.

But it will cost more than a new laptop to change the mainboard.

The price is approx. 500 dollars for the mainboard.
Without the cost to change it.

Hi Swithced my pc on and have no display. couple of days ago pc switched off by itself. New powersupply installed but problem still persists. please advise Regards A

It sounds to me that your computer mainboard is faulty.

I have created a published guide entitled My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!!
Note the section on clearing the BIOS/CMOS.
You could try replacing the silver 3V battery on your computer mainboard.

I think it may be a dead capacitor some-where on your computer mainboard, some technicians will replace it for you.

Thumbs up!

EMachines T2824. Does nothing but light on mainboard coming on...

This is a motherboard problem. You'll need to replace it. Although, it may be cheaper just to buy a new PC (eMachines are never very expensive, or well-made for that matter)

I NEED REPLACE COOLER FAN, MAINBOARD HAVE NO PLUG

Change the power connector on the cooler fan so it can plug into the 12volts on the 4 pin power connector, not the 5volts.

Motherboard failure

If the system appears to power on, but you do not see anything on the screen, there are several methods to determine the problem at hand.

Make sure the cooling system is fucntional.. a bad CPU fan has been known to make the computer power on, but halt and do nothing to protect the CPU. Some CPU fan's have speed sensors, and other do not, some motherboards require the speed sensor to be functional, or resistance in the line.

Some mainboards will function enough to power the system up, but go no further due to onboad componant failures such as bad / broken SMR, SMC, or capacitor. If you are sure the mainboard works, and the monitor is known to function, proceed with the following troubleshooting tips.

1) Remove everything but the memory, GPU, CPU, and HDD, see if boot is successful, if not Step 2)

2) Replace the Power supply, under powered PSU's can make a system unresponsive / fail to make it to POST, if fails step 3)

3) Replace Memory, if fails, 4)

4) Replace GPU.. if fails, 5)

5) Replace CPU, a non-funtional CPU will alow everything to power up, but will not allow POST in some machines.

6) Replace Motherboard, if fails, start at step 1)

I've got an old toshiba laptop with a broken usb hub

Hi

replacing motherboards on laptops out of warranty normally works out too expensive...

And yes, you would more than likely need to replace the mainboard, since almost all components of laptops are part of the mainboard...
