Question about Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Sound Card

1 Answer

No Sound Seems that after I installed a webcam and it rebooted my pc, my soundcard quit working but my integraded audio still works. The soundcard gets picked up by the computer and I checked device manager and doesnt seem to be a device conflict and it is enabled also set to default. Switched PCI slots, still does not work. I do hear the speakers on as if no audio is on. Any comments would be appreciated.

Re: No Sound

Make sure the sound card is in all the way. you need to open the computer up to do this. sometimes they pop out a little and they stop working. you can find drivers here

Hello you can download the driver here at gateway:

First make sure it`s the right model.

But first select your windows system 32 or 64 bit system.

Download the sound driver and unzip the file before you install.

Reboot after the install is done.

Install the other drivers if any missing.

Hope this will help you.

I have a Encore 5.1 Sound card and have installed it. My problem is that I don't get a normal sound input when I bring in the output of my cassette player into any of three ports I have in my pc, front,...

When you install the sound card drivers, they disable ALL motherboard sound functions, and enable them on the sound card, meaning you can do the same things, with better quality, you just need to connect everything to the soundcard or it won't work. SO then you cannot connect any sound to the front of the computer anymore, but a soundcard should have plenty of connections on the back side of the PC.

From what I understood from your story, you switched cassette players AND installed a sound card. If I were you I'd first install the sound card drivers, then try to play audio with the old cassette player, and see wether that works. If it does, your new cassette player has another (if at all) output than the old one. Then you'll just have to use the old one. If it does not work, your soundcard is the problem, which seems a bit odd. Soundcards are usually meant to do more than on-board sound, not less. I'd contact your manufacturer and ask wether it's normal this doesn't work, or that the card's broken.

I hope this helps,

I have no sound in my PC

BrendanG21, I had the same problem this morning. My sound actually quit in the middle of listening to music. Simply restart your computer (it may take a couple tries). If it's saying you have no audio device installed, but everything looks normal when you go into device manager, it's probably the same problem and this should work.

Running Windows XP
Dell B130 laptop
Sound devices listed under my device manager:
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
Video Codecs

Sound card has become inoperable since I loaded on the IKmultimedia software

It seems your system complicates soundcard's driver version and patches. To eliminate problem that causes inoparable one at a time; please consider to uninstall software sound applications and drivers. Remove any secondary or external sound cards and enable the built-in sound card at the BIOS. Now, start the system in Safe Mode try to remove the existing soundcard drivers at control panel sound card properties. Restart the system, well try to prove that the built-in sound card still working by reinstalling it. By then you can disable it again and install your secondary or external sound card. Hope it will work this time, else you'll need to clean up your Operating System astrays dll's using registry cleaners third party software. I met this problem before that my only recouse is by reformatting the system.
