SOURCE: reverse stitching on a singer 514, HELP!

In the center of the stitch length knob (at the right side of the machine) is a button. You would push that button in to get the machine to reverse.

SOURCE: Singer sewing machine beeps and wont repond to commands.

Sounds like you may have a blockage somewhere in the bobbin area that needs cleaning as this is normally what happens when it gets jammed. Reverse sewing can sometimes cause jams. Remove bobbin area and reassemble.

SOURCE: lever is stuck in reverse

If the stitch length bar, which is located on the right side of the machine, is in the up position move it down to where the numbers are. Those numbers are referring to how many stitches the machine will sew in an inch. Therefore, if you put it on 10, your machine will sew 10 stitches per inch. It being up will cause your machine to go in reverse.

SOURCE: Reverse Lever isn't working...

Most likely the "dogs" inside the lever are broken off. Oil/grease on the metal rod cause chemical attack to the plastic lever and the "dogs" break. Singer should know to degrease this rod before assembly.

SOURCE: Singer Touch Tronic 2001 Sewing Machine Stuck on Sewing Straight Stitch Only

I have the Singer Touch Tronic 2001. I bought it used for $50. It has the manual and all the parts. However, the manual refers to lifting the top console to access the stitch width selector dial and to change the pattern selector discs. I cannot seem to lift this console up even the manual says that it is hinged for easy access to these parts. Can anyone describe how to lift the console up? Or send a picture or video of this process?

Most appreciated!

Singer simple sewing machine will not move forward, but will sew reverse with holding the reverse lever down like it is supposed to do. I have been sewing for 50+ years. No simple answers please

Sorry--the only thing I can find is that possibly the auto reverse is turned on. Other than that, perhaps contact Singer directly or take it for service.

Hand wheel of my singer simple sewing machine model 3116 is only move backwards and the won't let me pick thread from the bobbin and won't work

Sounds like you might have multiple issues going on with your machine. Possibly the machine's reverse mechanism is stuck and the needle/hook may be out of time. The timing is when the needle arrives at the bobbin at the correct time to connect with the bobbin thread. (Be sure to try a brand new needle as a bent needle will sometimes not pull up the bobbin thread.) You can search the internet for information and videos regarding both issues and possible resolutions. Other than trying to fix it yourself, you can take it for service.

Sewing machine only works in reverse

The methods may vary based on your machine brand & model (ie some recommendations using oil probably would not be the best for a computerized machine).

When I put my material in the machine, it sews backwards, and I can not figure out how to get it to sew forward.

I just advised another person with the same problem, I think that somehow your lever disengaged and is stuck in the reverse position. Call Singer at 1-800-4singer and ask for advise how to fix it, if it out of warranty. Or, if it is new, take it back and get a new machine.

Singer simple 3116 will not reverse

Sounds like spring or something disconnected from the lever. Take it in to your dealer or look at yourself carefully.

Backward stitching

Knowing which kind of machine you have helps alot. Just guessing but maybe the reverse mechanism is stuck and needs some oil in it to free it up. Or the buttonhole mechanism is stuck in reverse part of it.
Probably you should have it looked at.

3116 just goes in reverse

It is possible the reverse lever is stuck in the wrong position Move it back to the forward position and see if it will work. Failing that, it's possible the machine is in buttonhole mode. Put it back to normal mode. If it still won't work, you probably have a seized mechanism which will require a technician to repair. If the machine is new enough to be under warranty return it to the store you bought it from for replacement or send it to the Singer warranty center listed on the paperwork that came with your machine.
