The camera isn't seeing the card inserted.

Have you tried another compact flash card in the slot to see if your camera is definitely at fault?

If so get a maglite and examine the slot the card plugs into and check none of the pins are bent. If there is a bent pin you may be able to straighten it with a pair of tweezers, though you may need to dissasemble the camera to do this. If the pins are all ok then you may have a board fault and while this is fixable it requires patience, a steady hand, knowhow, and test equipment. It would be easier to search for a scrap camera of the same model on ebay with a working board (search for one with a broken screen or lens) and simply swap it out.

Of course before you do any of these things check if your manufacturers warranty is still valid.

EOS rebel doesn't recognize cf card, even change de CF

My rebel XTi was taking good shots but the data stored was trash, canon service center did a repair and it worked for a few shots on getting it back then the problem returned, could not figure it out until a fella at the local camera store opened the card slot and showed me that the contacts were 'dirty'.
We spent considerable time carefully cleaning the camera and I have not had problems since we took one of my cats very fine hairs out of the card slot. (To this day she will not tell me when she borrowed my camera or for what use...)

I have had bad cards as well, expecially those that I bought overseas, several were counterfit and shortly after first use, they'd fail

My Canon EOS Rebel XT doesn't recognize the CF card. It recognized it earlier, but I removed it and now it won't see it. I also tried a different CF card and it didn't work.

LOOK INSIDE THE CAMERA Card SLOT AND SEE IF ALL THE PINS ARE STRAIGHT You may have bent the pins which is easy to do. If they are bent it will be a serviceman job to replace the module

Please rate my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA

Canon Rebel xt does not accept CF cards for no apparent reason

It sounds like a bent pin in the CF slot. This is not a do it yourself fix. Take it to a repair shop.

It sounds like you have some bent pins in the card slot. Take it to a reputable camera repair and they can look and tell you for sure.

Err CF

I had the same message on my EOS/Rebel XTI and the camera shop concluded that one of the pins where the card is inserted into the camera had come loose. They sent the camera back to Canon for repair. Luckily, it was still under warranty at the time.
