Re: Instruction Manual JVC HR-J425

You need the remote working to get at the on-screen setup menus. make sure the remote is set for the VCR (VCR button) and try the menu button. Are you sure this is the right remote for the VCR. May have to get a new remote. Make sure it is a universal that has a MENU button.

Hi Emma
JVC must be pretty stingy if they have no PDF versions of their user manual. Unless this is a fairly old device.

I need a JVC HR-DVS2 Mini DV/S-VHS VCR manual. Is it on line somewhere?

You can download a pdf version of your manual by clicking on the following link:

The file is in the pdf format. If you don't already have the Adobe Free Reader you can download it from this website:

Just click on the orange box that has the word DOWNLOAD in it. If you save the file to your Desktop all you have to do is double-click the icon that it creates and the reader will install itself. You can then double-click the file for your manual and it will automatically load the reader and display itself in the reader.

I have a JVC HR-693U. I no longer have the manual and would like to set it to record 2,4 or 6 hours. Any advice would be appreciated.

Didn't have manual for 693 but do have one for 793. They are similar and the setup for recording times should be the same. Here's the link:

SO you actually got the S/VHS to capture via firewire into your computer? I can only get the DV side to work. I have the same unit with manual. I think your initial problem is a refresh rate, are you using Premiere? and can you make the viewing window smaller?
