remington 12 inch electric saw, chain came off, - c2d7ab8.gif Chain adjustment

  1. Make sure the chain brake is off (gloves will protest your fingers).
  2. If necessary, loosen the bar nuts that are clamping the clutch cover in place (or whatever holds the clutch cover and bar on). They don't need these really loose - finger tight will do.
  3. Ease the tension adjustment until the chain is obviously loose.
  4. Using one hand, hold the nose of the bar up.
  5. While holding the nose up, adjust the tensioner so that the center of the chain just touches the underside of the bar, add a touch more.
  6. Continue holding the nose of the bar up & tighten up the bar nuts / bolts / quick-release system. HTH

Wear gloves when handling chain, teeth are sharp .the 'bar that the chain rides on is retained by two nuts attached to studs protruding from the case.on the other side of the bar is the adjustment screw.loosen nuts, turn screw counter-clockwise to 'shorten'bar to allow chain to be re-installed on bar. with tip of bar lifted,re-adjust chain. you should only be able to pull chain off bar about a half a tooth at center span.while holding tip up,tighten retaining nuts, check that chain runs smoothly by hand,re-adjust as necessary.curved or sharp end of teeth should face towards the direction of rotation.if chain is stretched[tight at one position, loose at another] or broken it must be replaced.

For an electric saw, just add oil to the chain oiler, plug it in, and cut away. Do not put any body parts in contact with any of the moving parts of the saw.

Need to find parts

Remington is no longer in production, many parts are NLA Elley.
Start here with the IPB:
Remington.com
http://shoppingcart.msservicecompany.com/Default.aspx
  • Type "YourModelNumber" into the "Search for your unit by Model:" window, then click search.
  • Click the “YourModelNumber” - Remington Electric Chain Saw "View Model" link.
  • Click “View Owners Manual” or "View Illustrated Parts Diagram" link.
  • Type "YourPartNumber" into the “Search for your parts by Part #:” window, then click search.
If NLA above try the part number here:
Master Distributors
http://www.masterparts.net/remingtonelectricchainsaw.html
If this provides nothing eBay is the most likely source.

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. Good Luck. HTH

I'm a girl. remington electric chain saw not cutting. chain seems loose, was out of lubricating fluid, added more, still won't cut. how can i fix it? or do i need to sharpen it and how?

Yes you need to "have" the blade sharpened. I emphasize "have" for if you've never done one it is virtually impossible for me to insruct you from here. It doesn't cost much to get them sharpened. Also make sure the guy tells you what direction to put the chain back on. Thank you, Dana
