Water leaks from the soap dispensing tray on Hotpoint WMA 56 model

I have had the Hotpoint WMA 56 model now for approx 4 years. It has recently started to leak alot of water from the soap dispensing tray when it empties from the spin cycle. I have checked the waste pipe and it appears to be fine. I have had a look inside and there is no obvious leakage or blockage. I have taken the dispensing tray out and the water back tracks into the compartment and then suddenly goes through the waste pipe.
Is it a blockage or more electrical if is not operating as it should.

Many thanks for your speedy response. I presume that the sump hose is the one that leads from the drum to the little black box where the waste pipe leaves the machine. Is the filter easy to remove, as the overall process to locate and clean the filter has been a nightmare.

Thanks alot. Dismantled the necessary and removed a whole load of debris that had collected in the filter. Now working fine without leaking all over the floor. Cheers!

In the sump hose there is a filter, remove the hose and clean out filter insert, water is being forced up dispenser hose because it cannot empty fast enough.

Water leaks from the door and from the soap dispenser

when you say leaks from the door i am not sure if this is the case or is water running from the soap tray onto the door making things look that way, Remove and clean your soap tray,it unclips in the centre to remove ,if this does not solve you could try reducing Water pressure to the machine only....Good luck

Hi I have a Hotpoint Aqurius WMA 37 model. At first it was not spinning properly, and now its started to spin but there is alot of water leaking from the door as well as from the dispenser drawer, it...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

I would first check the state of the drum by taking the back off but-
REMOVE POWER BEFORE YOU DO-

The whole of the support mechanism should then be visible- the 'spider', the belt, the motor AND the shock absorbers/dampeners. It could be that something has broken and requires fixing (first).
As for the water coming out of the dispenser drawer I would also check if it is absolutely clean and clear, especially the softener bit. Following is my standard/generic document, copied and pasted ;-0)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catch underneath or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
One of these should enable you remove it
(I am having to guess some of the following!)
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.
It will normally have some sort of cover on it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. This is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.

Good luck,

Water is coming out of the soap dispenser, what do

We had water pour out of the dispenser of our Kenmore HE2 washer. hot water helped us for one load then i realize that a trapped rag was the problem We were actually able to pull the face cloth out of the intake tube without taking everything apart!
opened the washer door and feel around inside the rubber seals to find where the intake tube connects to the drum (upper-left side). felt a small bit of cloth sticking out of the tube and were able to slowly work it out by pulling back and forth. and pulled it completely out thats all it was try this

I have a Kenmore Elite top load that is leaking some water on the floor. I had this repaired before and I know the problem that time was the liquid chlorine bleach dispenser was dirty and needed cleaning....

Usually the soap tray has a black tab at the back of the soap dispenser tray , remove the tray and take a cloth with some CLR and rub the top of the slot were the tray fits into the washing machine. If you look inside you will find that there are holes in there this is were the water come through to wash the soap out, chances are that it is starting to block the holes with either calcium or soap. Hope this helps you out.

you may be using too much detergent, or you have a blockage in the outlet.try putting it on to spin to drain out the water, if it does not drain then check the filter or sump hose for a blockage

We had the same problem- for us it was because we were mixing laundry booster (Oxyclean) with liquid soap in the dispenser. It seems the water running through the tray had insufficient pressure to properly flush the tray out, so residue accumulated on the back & underside of the tray. Our water pressure is good here, and we don't use a water softener or filters that can reduce the pressure. Unfortunately it seems to just be a bad design of the soap dispenser tray.

We also had a problem with water/bleach leaking from our soap dispenser- when we used the bleach compartment in the dispenser we got leaks dripping onto the floor from behind the front cover of the washing machine. It was running down the front of the washer behind the front cover & coming out onto the floor. The repair guy said this was because the dispenser tray was pulled out too far, but the reason we were pulling the soap tray out so far was because the bleach compartment was too far back in the tray to use if we didn't. Now we just leave the drawer partially closed & pour the bleach directly into the soap compartment along with the soap.
