Re: mod

Yes, do not clip the modulation limiter. Many of the fly by night cb techs now days do that to max out modulation. It all depends on what radio you have as to how to turn up the modulation. If you don't find it on, repost and tell what brand and model your radio is and one of us on here can tell you which pot to turn up.

Have trc 457 need to clip mod limiter, what to look for?

why do you want to clip the limiter ? you will be overmodulaing the audio and bleeding over all the channels and this is great but also a good way to loose friends because while you are talking they cannot listen because your voice will be coming through their radio. the best thing to do is leave it alone and find the variable to turn the mod up then you should be at around 90% modulation .

No modulation when transmitting

No modulation could be a problem with your mic or the factory setting inside the radio. Radios are set at about 50 to 80% modulation from the factory. This is adjustable in most radios. Search mod adjustment on XXX radio and you should get info as to where the mod adjustment is located inside your radio. Turning it all the way up will not hurt it but it could cause some distortion if turned too high. Up is turning it counter clockwise.
Modulation is not shown on all built in "S" meters, just power. There are bench meters which show both power and modulation available for about $50 and up.

Key mike no hears me but shows meter

You didn't mention if you hear the other radio. If not, here's a common problem and solution.
That's usually a defective amc stage that produces RX audio and TX modulation. It's an integrated circuit that will require a tech fixing it. You will have a transmitted carrier with no modulation, and no sound in your speaker. However, make sure you have a good mike plugged in first, and substitute a known good mike to verify it's not the mike.
However, if you hear them, and they see your signal, but no talk (modulation), then the problem is usually your mike. Try another one in this case. Thanks, Bill

Galaxy 98vhp no modulation am, and full power tx with no control power on am just full power about 200w

Turn up your mike gain. Mod the beans out of it and that should fix your problem. Crank every screw you can see on the board and wash it out with soap and water. This will fix it good.

Clipping the Mod limitter

DO NOT CLIP THE LIMITER! You may wind up with splattering audio. The best thing you could do is find the modulation pot and turn it a bit to achieve more modulation. I am not familiar with your radio, so I could not tell you where that pot is. You may be disappointed in the results if you clip the limiter.

I have a galaxy93ttwin turbine that has a modulation prob on ssb

well i hate to tell you this but some cb ******* shop hacked the **** out of you radio and you have been ripped off they probably ripped all the audio limiters out volted the final and put that stupid modulation kit in there. unbeliveable. i hate the cb hacks that give good techs like me a bad name. shame on the hackers. that is why it does not work on sideband.
