I have a Samsung SL420 camera. Outdoor photos are great. Indoor photos colors always have a gold hew to them. What am I doing wrong. I always use the auto setting for both indoor & outdoor p

You will need to adjust the "white balance". Your camera may be able to do this by pointing it at a gray surface, and setting something. I don't have your camera instructions, but it's a normal adjustment for indoors.

I have a canon camera A460. when i used outdoor the image appears to be white..but when i used it indoor it appears okey

It could be over exposure or maybe it is set to indoor or night settings.. Try setting it to automatic or to "outdoor" when you go outside and then take a picture.

When i take picture, the picture is white n some time become very very bright, but if take video is ok.

this can be usually associated with your white balance in still camera mode.
Check to see your white balance is set correctly or just set it to auto. Also make sure the mode you are in it set. (ie. indoor, outdoor, auto, speed)

you had asked for the reasons for the difference between indoor and outdoor photos. Here is the simple solution. you have to change the light settings to your preference in your camera according to the environment.
for an instance if you are standing in an open air space then please follow the sequence of options

  1. press menu while the camera is on and when you are reading to take a photograph.
  2. scroll down for the options stating "Light settings". (it could be found with the pictorial representation of light glowing)
  3. press "ok" and enter to find the several options for the environment you have including "fluorescent light", "incandescent light" etc.
  4. choose the option and you will be able to have a clear picture according to the surroundings.
also please note that you can change the light settings to automatic during which the picture's light effect will be optimal for all conditions.
thanks, have a nice day. hope your question is answered and solved.
