You should install all the drivers and software for the unit. Search in Asus website for it.

there are many things that could be causing this problem 1 dirty cooling fan on the cpu 2 the cpu is failing 3 a cap/s are failing that is a old board so its hard to tell

You have to refresh your system by deleting the old sound card driver in the control panel or add/remove programs . Then restart the pc to detect the old onboard sound card driver. Then install the onboard sound card driver using the supported motherboard cd driver.

That board type does not show on the ASUS web site. I think that your problem may be incompatibility of the RAM with the board specs. Placing faster RAM on the board will not make it go faster.

well u need to check if the both rams are compatible or not with same Mhz speed.....

your computer may have a faulty harware, check if your RAM is properly installed and your VGA card as well
