There is a pressure regulator they call a compensator on the pump outlet. Usually, it gets a little sticky and needs to be cleaned or just removed and inspected. It is under the pressure setting cap - it is a plunger with some o-rings - pull it out and clean it up, then use a small amount of waterproof grease to put it back together. The repair might not last long, but it's the only way short of replacing it that seems to get results.

Another possibility is that your not supplying the pump with enough water volume - perhaps try using a larger hose and/or a more substantial water spigot for more flow.

Maytag washer (LAT7400AAV)shuts off during rinse cycle

The machine control board is programmed to allow a maximum continous fill time of six minutes
or an accumulated fill time of 8 minutes for each full wash cycle.
If the required fill time exceeds the time limit, the washer will shut down.
This is to prevent flooding in the event there is a loose hose clamp or damaged air dome hose.
Check the incoming water lines for a minimum pressure of 20 psi.
If lower, the customer can use smaller clothes loads and reduce the pressure to 10 psi.
An alternative solution would be to change the plastic inlet screens to metal screened washers
and remove the nozzle extender found in the water valve inlet hose near the dispener inlet."

After initial surge at full pressure, pressure drops to hose pressure

loose impeller or broken part inside casing, the pressure relies on the casting being made to have a very close tolerence with the impellers movement. if a wall inside the casting is broken away from the original position that it has to be in order to create the pressure constantly. or the impeller could have lost its key or the nut that holds in place came loose and it spins but not enough to maintain any real pressure.

Why does my pressure surge

Common problem across brands. When you spray water the drop in pressure triggers the motor to take the hose pressure ~ 30 psi and boost it to ~ 3000 psi. Water coats these parts with calcium (hard water) or other junk and water contains bacteria which causes slime and scale. Once that pressure switch / valve is sufficiently clogged it doesn't move smoothly so it can fluctuate between sending a yes / no signal about whether you are squeezing the trigger or not. This causes the pulsing.

EZ test: take the the tip off the wand, start the unit, squeeze trigger - should run continously with no problem. If it does for sure you need to watch a video on dissembling and cleaning the valve body. It is not hard but you must work carefully to avoid losing parts especially springs and take digital pictures to record the order for reassembly.

Power surging when accelerating

Fuel pressure Normal range is 35 to 70 PSI. Without the proper fuel pressure needed the vehicle surges and looses power especially goin up hill and at WOT(wide open throttle) . Its a good call if you change full filter your going to any way. you got a surge going on. Also check the airfilter once that plugs up it will also cause the surge. Surges happen when it lacks something so your getting less of some thing

I purchased a reconditioned Karcher 4000 and upon first use, the spray surges. It will go down to almost nothing then back up to full blast in about 5 second increments. Any advice?

Bleed the system by running water without the unit on, You have an air lock, open the drain cocks and allow water to run slowly for 2 minutes, then close everything and try it

The power washer is surging cuting in and out when i turn da nozzele to get stronger water pressure?

When I use my machine I hook up the water to the pump, hook up the high pressure line and gun, then turn on the water full and squeeze the triger to make sure all air is out before starting the pressure washer(mine is gasoline powered). Then I install the nozel on the spray gun. If you are having surgeing water pressure Check the hose washer where the water hose hooks to the machine, and be sure the supply hose is not restricted and valve is on full.
If this was helpful please leave Feedback. Thanks, SP

The motor keeps surging

If there's a lot of sediment in your water supply, there's a chance that sediment has gummed up the pressure switches. I'm assuming it has a full power switch and high power switch. It runs on full power until a pressure switch is satisfied, and runs on low power to slowly build the pressure back up, at which a second switch is satisfied from the pressure and turns the motor off. These things are not easy to work on, and are made of metal probably too fragile to try any chemicals. You should probably contact the manufacturer.

Cycles - pressurizes when trigger is pulled, then motor sets back to idle immediately as if trigger is let go, but is still engaged. Pressure and idling happens within 2 seconds, continously cycling

A lot of commercial and industrial grade pressure washers especially have a safety feature that will either shut down or will return the motor to idle if you do not have an adequate supply of water to the pump to protect the plungers and valves from burning up. For instance you're pressure washing your driveway with a 9hp 3300psi 4gpm your water pressure at the faucet is around 10-11gpm without the hose connected 5 with the garden hose connected to your pres wsh and to top it off you have sprinkers on, someone washing clothes, taking a bath etc. basically just a great demand on the water supply this will happen. This specific scenario happened to me last month. I adjusted my carb, chem inj system (thought it might have bleed air into sys) adjusted my pres. valve still no luck, finally purchased 2 way hose connector adaptor connected 2 separate water sources started up pump adjusted to full pres and no more problems. You can try that , adjust your pres reg/valve and hopefully there is your remedy.
