Check these:

  1. Lid switch:If yhe lid switch is defective, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
  2. Motor coupler:Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it.
  3. Belt: Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer.
  4. Transmission: Older washers produced by Whirlpool have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may drain the water but not spin. This is a complex system, if your washer has a shifter problem, you may want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it.
  5. The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.

There could be a problem with the door switch. Different washing machines have different safety options......... for ex. some allow washing even if the door is open (Vertical mount drums) some don't and the machine freezes.......... some allow washing even if the door remains open but will not spin. so this could be one of the reasons for the machine not to spin. carefully check this out

Keep getting F21 code and laundry is dripping wet with a puddle of water in machine.

sounds like drain pump is failing or something is in drain area blocking water from moving fast enough.... remove bottom plate on front of unit usually two or three screws at floor in the front of unit.the entire metal piece will come off and you will see the drain pump assembly right inside with hoses attached... not having the model number not sure which one this is but based on the picture it looks like whirlppol parts helped make this unit...some of kenmore is g.e parts and whirlpool made some of kenmore front loader stuff. if it is whirlpool there will also be a clean out behind this panel you can take cap off and clean all debri out and check hoses while in there sometime loose change will get in hoses or right in the neck of the pump assembly... if that doesn't fix then most like ly your drain pump has failed... beware when accessing this area to unplug unit and have 3 or 4 large towels there will be a gallon or so of water in unit..a wet vac works great....

Whirlppol duet washer (WFW9300VU02)- power beeps but does not come on- previous error reading was F02. Please help- I have clothes to wash. Thank you, Tina

First check your washer plug to see if the connections are tightly screwed. Next check your filter if you haven't for long.

Plug off the mains. Remove the 3 screws at the bottom of the front panel under the washer door. Your filter door will be light brown. If you find a hose there it is to drain out excess water (water that could not be drained by your pump) After you hv drained unscrew the cap and remove all the junk inside. Have a large plastic bag to catch junk and water. Refit carefully after cleaning out.

How abt a nice rating for the free help? Thnks

Whirlppol Duet washer will not drain.

Hi,
It sounds like you may have a kinked drain hose or an obstruction in the hose coming out of the tub to the pump. The pump filter screen may also be clogged.

Are you getting any error codes?

Makes buzzing noise and won't spin or drain

Sounds like something is stuck in the drain pump.  If nothing is stuck in the pump replace the pump.  It won't spin until it drains, so fixing the drain problem will fix the spin.  You can get at the drain pump by taking off the bottom panel.

Top load Whirlppol Ultimate Care II Top load washer will not spin, makes the noise like it should be spinning but doesnt spin...

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

We had the same (plus another) problem with an old Kenmore top load, direct drive, neutral drain washer.

WHIRLPOOL INST AND MAINTENANCE INCLUDING HOW TRANSMISSION WORKS

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

Problem 1. Major gear sounding grinding during spin mode. Major vibration also.

Problem 2. Spin problem. Most times the washer would drain but wouldn't spin unless the lid was raised and lowered. (According to wife, this problem has been on-going for two years).

After checking motor coupling (a bit worn but intact), drive block (you don't need a spanner wrench to remove it, a 12 - 14 inch pipe wrench works great) which was OK, clutch, seemed OK, we determined that the problems were in the transmission.

Two options, 1 spend $150 plus for a transmission.
2. Open it up and see if anything seemed seriously bad.

After looking at the transmission parts list (available on a number of sites) and on the Whirlpool site (Whirlpool makes Kenmore)

http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%20W10114743.pdf

the first problem seemed to be related to the agitator cam and cam follower not raising the agitator gear high enough (probably less than a 1/16th of an inch) above the agitator cam.

Found the right part number (Whirlpool part # 62580 / 81) which includes both the cam and follower. Bought one for about $10.50, installed it, put washer back together and problem 1 was solved.

Looked again at parts list and noticed that the one of the cams in the neutral assembly which is supposed to have a small spring, didn't on ours when we tore the transmission apart again.

Those cams/gears etc. keep the washer from spinning until all of the water is pumped out and then go into spin mode. Apparently, by opening and closing the lid, torque from the motor starting throws the cams into the right gears so that the washer will spin.

Found the part number for a kit (Whirlpool part number 388253 Neutral Assembly) for $15.00 and replaced the cams and gears.

Whirlpool parts list for commercial washer, consumer washers are basically the same.

I have a whirlppol washer and just the spin cycle won't work . Is there any troublshooting I can do to get the water out of the machine?

The lid switch would be my first guess, most washers require this switch contacts to be closed before they go into spin mode, you can bypass the lid switch if you are technically inclined, it is just a common type of switch.

I have a Whirlppol Ultimate II washer. It started making a loud noise. When I checked it, it was on the spin cycle and was not spinning. HELP ME please...also, I don't think all the water drained...

Hello Friend, Your solution is very simple. You need to replace the motor coupler. It's easy to replace the motor coupler on your machine. First, remove the two screws that hold control panel in place and tilt back exposing the two metal clips that hold the cabinet in place. You will see some wires plugged into the cabinet, just unplug them. There are two clips, one on each side. Just pop these clips off and lift cabinet slightly from back and tilt forward. At this point you will be able to completely remove the cabinet. Once you have cabinet removed just set it aside. Now, just lay the washer on it's back. At this point you will see the water pump, motor, and transmission. Remove the pump by snapping off the two spring clips. The pump will slide right off the motor shaft. Now, remove the two screws that hold the two spring clips attached to motor. Unplug all the wires etc. and then snap the metal clips off motor. Lift motor straight up, it should slide right off. Now you will see the motor coupler. Half of the coupler is on the transmission shaft and the other half is on the motor shaft. There is a rubber center connector ring that connects the two together. Just remove the old coupler pieces by prying under them with slotted screwdriver and replace with new ones. Re-assymble the washer and the problem you are encountering should be solved. Happy to help, Tim.
