i have a hitachi dz-mv350a DVDCAM. i can not finalize the disc without the ac adapter either. and i can not locate the power cord that plugs into the original DC charger equipment and then into the camcorder. My charger has a female dc out 7.9v plug hole but i can't find the cable for the other end to plug into the dvdcam. i'm not even sure what the power cord that plugs into the camcorder looks like.

I have the same problem, My mom bought the camera and we lost the DC power cord, I have to look for it in Radio Shack or someting like that, as I tried looking in the Hitachi Web Page for accessories but is not there and can not find who can sell it in the web,

Not sure if you have the "Instructions Manual" but it shows a pic of it on Page 15, basically, it is a power cord that goes from the "Charger" to the "camera", the connector to the camera looks like the battery and should connect in the battery's place,

hope it helps you to look for the correct part on an electronic place

I struggled with the same problem. The disc cannot be finalized without the power adapter that connects the charger to the camera. After much research, I finally found the solution. Do a Google search for Hitachi part # EV11012. Panasonic uses the same part number for the same part but for some reason the Panasonic part is usually $50 more expensive than the identical Hitachi part. Either brand EV11012 part is the magical part you need and I found my brand new Hitachi OEM part online for $20. Prior to be finding the correct part number, merely searching the internet for an AC adapter for the BX35a only yielded results for all the crappy Chinese aftermarket battery chargers.

I lost ours as well, you cannot buy the cheap knock replacements as they do not work. I bit the bullet and replaced it with the TS18066, you can find it on ebay here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Hitachi-HITACHI-TS18066-AC-ADAPTER-POWER-CORD-SOLD-SE_W0QQitemZ390028856895QQihZ026QQcategoryZ3320QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247

or just search google for it, there's a few places that sell it. unfortunately it's not cheap ~$80 but hey a new camcorder is going to cost 3-4x that so I just sucked it up.

DVD Finalization

im guessing your talking about a new disc here , before you can do anything with the disc ,you will either have to format it or erase it, once you have donr that you can then use the disc and edit its contents. im assuming you are using the correct type of disc for your machine, eg dvd+rw or dvd-rw check the manual to make sure your machine can record onto a dvd+rw disc. hope this is of some help to you.

NEED FINALIZING DVD

I had the same problem. What I did on my Hitachi DVDCam was to click the "Stop" button to clear all keystrokes. Then, click "Menu". The camera might say "Creating Thumbnails" for a minute but then it will stop and display a mock menu for your mini dvd. Then click "Menu" and the toolbar should pop up. With the arrow keys, scroll down. You should see a menu that says "Finalize DVD" click this. For a small dvd, it will take around 13 min. to finalize.

Damaged DVD-R Disc

Try to play it by connecting camcorder through the ac adapter/charger which will further connect the battery, so this means you do not have to put the battery in the camcorder rather get it through the ac adapter/charger and format if it asks to. I recovered 1 disc by doing so!

Do I have to use the AC adapter/charger when finalizing a DVD-R disc?

I got a hitachi camcorder at a flee market and it did not come with an instruction book. Everything is fine up to the part where I have to finalize the disc in order to play it back on my DVD player or whatever. I have all the cords but don't know where the outlet on the camcorder is, in order to plug into the ac charger.. In other words: Where do I plug the cords. I can't find anything on the camcorder that will ssupport the cords,, Is there a hidden slot somewhere on the camcorder???? Please help, Email me at...... jackmoby2000@yahoo.com

Thanks Mel

My Hitachi VM H710A plays just fine, and the picture looks fine. But when it playsback footage or records footage, five to ten seconds later, it stops abruptly, and flashes the word "TAPE". First thing I must add, is that I was using a prerecorded videotape, and was testing it from the beginning of the cassette and the middle of the cassette. I thought maybe the heads were dirty, and so I cleaned them using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. I cleaned the head drum with a piece of paper soaked with rubbing alcohol so that I wouldn't get any fibres in the heads. I waited for it to dry and then I put a cleaning cassette inside. To which, it still stopped abruptly five to ten seconds in during playback. I then decided to look at the manual of the camcorder and see the symptom. It says that due to temperature changes that it might cause this symptom. I placed it in a cool room and left it there all day and checked on it, and the camcorder is still doing the same thing as before hand. Then another cause said that it might sense some moisture. I made sure that the camcorder was dry externally and internally, and yet still, same problem. Thats when I decided to take it apart and look inside to see if there was anything odd inside the camcorder causing it to function the way it does. The belt seemed to be working fine, and there was no missing parts. The tracking poles and path alignment was fine, and not loose. Everything simply seemed just fine. So I am unsure as to why my camcorder is operating like this.
